I just watched THE MIST yesterday , ....... forgot how cool that flick was , ....... well cept for the ending .

Anyhoo , today while modeling I have FEAST , DAWN OF THE DEAD [ Ving Rhames version ] ALIEN vs. Predator and the original THING [ James Arness b/w version ] and the very cool Kurt Russel version waiting in the wings.

You guys and gals got Sci - Fi favs ?

John Carpenter's The Thing (this really sci-fi? i love everything from the early John Carpenter)
Star Wars (also beyond the movies, the extended universe)
Fifth Element (too funny)
Equilibrium (outstanding portrait of a dystopia)
Event Horizon (friggin awesome!)
Dune (David Lynch is a god! if only they wouldn't have mangled the movie that bad! :( )

and above all, by far above all:

Babylon5 ( :notworthy EPIC! :notworthy )

Re: Sci - Fi movies ...........

I like the John Carpenter stuff, I think a real fun one was "They Live!" with "Rowdey Roddy Piper", his acting caught me off guard but the 15 minute fight scene with piledrivers onto pavement was a hoot!

It's also fun to see the difference of The Thing and it's remake.

Re:Sci - Fi movies ...........

 Pup , I got home at 11pm last night from work and THEY LIVE was on SCI-FY channel, cool .

Laura , you're definitely into sci-fi classics , me , there's nothing better than a crappy " b " horror/sci/fi Saturday afternoon movie .

As a real little kid [ just after the Civil War ] , actually shortly after the average lower middle class family could afford tv , I would spend Saturday's watching Chany , LaGosi , Karfoff etc .

Re:Sci - Fi movies ...........

haha - they life is such a cool and entertaining movie and rowdy roddy piper's just hilarious!

did i really leave the impression that i like sci-fi stuff glenn? and hey - how could one NOT enjoy the classic hollywood heroes of horror and sci-fi?

the original flash gordon series is phantastic!

Sci-Fi/Horror ..............

There ,..... done !!!

OOoohh those are some cool flicks.

For SciFi I go with those stated like the remake of The Thing by Carpenter. Sooo cool. And of course ALL the Star Wars flicks. I still remember waiting in line to see it on opening day.

And then there are some more that really stand out. Like Serenity, and Ralph Bakshi's Wizards. And another one that I will always remember is The Entity, with Barbara Hershey. I aint even a girl, but that one scared the everything out of me.

Oh man Wizards is classic, and my wife and daughter like Firefly as much as I do.

Alien is probably my fav and it's sci-fi and horror combined.I liked the Blair Witch Project a lot.

Man that is well spooky me and the misses sat and watched the Mist last night and i can in all honesty WHAT THE HELL WAS THAT ALL ABOUT!!!!!!! :gogo

Gotta love SyFy's "Battlestar Gallactia" and spin offs as well as thier version of Dune and Children of Dune and any Zombie movie! Ryan

forgot to mention

Starship Troopers

what fun it was to watch and enjoy that movie! i think i laughed the whole time!

- sir, i don't understand. what good's a knife in a nuke fight? all you have to do is press a button, sir.

- Put your hand on that wall trooper. PUT YOUR HAND ON THAT WALL!

[...]

- the enemy can not press a button if you have disabled his hand. MEDIC!

To Serve Man, excellent episode. The V series is no doubt based on this. I wasn't too much on Spaceballs even for a Mel Brooks movie, Gonna do Mel, gotta be Young Frankenstein (Blucher!) or Blazin' Saddles.

I did like Galaxy Quest, I think it was a great sendup to the trekkies.

Have a look for a movie called Moon http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1182345/ it's really good and Kevin Spacey makes a very good 'Hal' like character. Also, for a Horror movie 'The Hunger'............Susan Sarandon (yum), Catherine Deneuve (double yum) and David Bowie...

Let's not forget Bruce Campbell , .........

EVIL DEAD
EVIL DEAD II
ARMY of DARKNESS

TREMORS

DOG SOLDIERS

ALIEN vs. PREDATOR

SHAWN of the DEAD .......... HILARIOUS ...........

FEAST

I have seen the Others, I saw the original one also. But if you have another Nichol Kiddman movie I need to watch, I'll all eyes. (prefer the ones without little Tommy Cruise.)
