Reading Sugestion - Magazine

Friends, first, I wish to say sorry if was any kind of topic like this. Using the search button, I couldn't fine anything that answer my question. So I start this one...

Well, I like to read alot. And in Brazil, we haven't any options of good material abaout modeling. So The option it's looking over seas. And looking to read abaout technique, reviews, pics, tips, etc. I think the best options it's a magazine. And I have found some. I have to say that internet it's a great tool, but sometimes I don't have acess to a conection, so the "physical" material it's the option.

So in your opnion, wich could be a good choice. I've download some issues of FSM (FineScale Modeler), to see how it's the magazine. I must say that I like a lot. And a friend will send me one issue from Airfix Model World and one from Scale Aviation Modeller, in his opinion both are better than FSM. So what you think? :hmmm

Cheers

Hi Art I read constantly. I tried a digital reader last year but the print was too small and I got a tablet. Now I can read my books and am quite happy. Now to the good part. There are a ton of magazines out there that I cant normally get and you can buy single issues or subscriptions. I have even found Spanish, German, French magazines and books. As a matter of fact I am reading the new Mig magazine on my tablet. Once you download it it is yours and you dont need a connection to read it any more. I know this is an expensive alternative, but I think it pays for itself. I like it because I should be able to take it to my work bench and read an article while modeling and it doesnt take much room. Also I can watch movies and there are a lot of them on youtube for modeling.
Now having said that I go to pocketmags to get my magazines and some books and you might be able to do the same thing on your computer. I havent yet tried.
I'll tell you though the tablet is awesome when you are in the library sitting on the throne or when you are lying in bed reading, or even out wainting for the spouse to finish shopping.
Hope that is of some use to you.

James, it's very helpfull, and make me think a litlle more... I'm thinking in buy a notebook or a tablet in future, but haven't decide yet... :hmmm

But, abaout magazines? What titles you recomend? You like FSM or isn't worthy?

I'm not a fan of FSM. My own personal opinion is they have moved away from the format of explaining how to do things to saying I scratch built such and such or added PE. I like to see how people do things. I have a subscription to Military modeler. And the digital mags I look at areModel Military, Model Aircraft, Tamiya, Scale Military Modeling. Military in Scale, AFV, Jabo, Mig, Scale Military Modeller and a couple I look at. Here is the pocket mag addy http://www.pocketmags.com/

Our own Ken Abrams is also the editor to a brand new magazine...Scale Model Addict...the digital version on Pocketmags is still going through the process, but the print edition is available worldwide and issue 1 is a gem....

I must say that after read the Saul review, I very curious about the magazine :D

Thank you very much. B)

Shipping is a horrible thing to deal with on our end as well and we are doing our best to be competitive. To give an example, this is what I would have to pay for other top quality magazines, from overseas:

- to subscribe to Military Modelcraft International. it would be £49.50 + £35.50 shipping, so that = £85.00 or $136.20

- to AFV Modeller it would be £48.50 + £35.50 shipping, so that = £84.00 or $134.60

- to Military Illustrated Modeler it would be £49.50 + £35.50 shipping, so that = £85.00 or $136.20

- SMA international subscription = €80.33 or $104.00
