If anyone here wants any specific photo's of RAF machines (and some Blitz era Luftwaffe) from the RAF museum next week please let me know here before next Monday/Tuesday..
If you are stuck for that little piece of detail like the routing of the brake pipe on the undercarriage of the Bristol bulldog or the tail skid fixing on a Sopwith Pup or How sharp is the pointy end of a EE Lightning ? then now's your chance :)

Sorry Hendon/London :)

this is a list of aircraft in each section if that helps. Some maybe closed off or on the move as exhibits move between the two museums

Re: Photo's (if it's not too late)

Paddy,

I have been looking for a close up of the rigging placard on the port side of the Fokker DVII. ( See photo) It is the 6" x8" (or metric equal) white patch next to the cockpit opening.
This photo was taken about 12 years ago and the airplane may be suspended from the ceiling now. If you can get a close-up with the text, that would be great. Have a wonderful visit. That is a fantastic museum.

Thanks,

Bill

OK Bill no problem, see what i can do.
I went last year but as i am about to start a WnW FE2b i need to go and get some rigging pictures....I am slowly learning from Chuk that a lot of the success of a build is in the research :)

I'd be interested in the Fee. Will be getting one soon. Other than that Harrier, Rumpler if there is one.I dont think you can go inside but I really need pics of the interior of the Beaufighter. Thanks.
James

Thanks Paddy,

It looks like it is hanging in the "Milestones of flight exhibit" now, with that port side visible from the upper viewing area. It will probably be too far away to read or photo, but thanks anyway. Have a wonderful visit. I'm green w/ envy.

Cheers,

Bill

P.S. :To anyone else who may have documentation or knowlege of this placard, please feel free to chime in and save Paddy the trouble. I have several documentation books on the plane , but no close-up. Thanks all. :snoopy

Bill, you under estimate the power of my 500mm lens :)

James, what harrier pictures do you want, i have loads already.

I have the Trumpeter 1/32 Harrier Gr7. I believe it can be made into other marks with little problems.I dont have a lot of refs on the cockpit and landing gear/wheel bay. I appreciate it.
James

Ahhhhhhhhhhh now it all falls into place. :)

This is why i am going to research my WnW FE2b so that will be easy ;)

Struggled with this today, just no light in the Museum.

I have done my best to blow it up but i dont know if its readable as i cant read German. Hope it helps a bit anyway.

Got a few other but i dont want to clog up the forum, some Triplane cockpit, a few DH4 some Camel and few SE5a
I tried to post them reasonable size so you can zoom in but if you need any in original size you need to PM me an e-mail address.

I got some external Beufighter if you want them. They have a sectioned one as well but its got perspex over the cut areas and i just couldnt get pictures through the perspex. The Harrier was not there, they swap airframes with other museums.

James Sorry its not quite what you wanted but it might help a build. As i say it was not easy trying to take pictures through perspex, its just all reflections. The Ammo boxes sit a couple of yards behind the pilot and feed through the floor. The other blured pictures are taken through a cutaway panel on the left side.
I put the Fee pics in the F2b research thread i started for you :)
