My suggestion is to cut short lengths of rod, longer than those on the pins, for the track links going around the drive sprocket and idler. To these add the track pin ends with the pin itself trimmed off. The rest, treat like individual link tracks.

My suggestion is to buy the Amusing hobby or DML kit and ask for a refund from Trumpeter.
as promised i stole some time and sneaked upstairs to assemble a section of the trumpeter tracks ...
the pins work and are long enough on my kit, what i noticed though was that they have to be pressed into the holes really hard so that they sit deep enough. a fraction of a mm too little and the tracks fall apart (ask me how i know! two times they fell into pieces!
