Regards,

Another cool looking vehicle. I like that they have the model kasten tracks or something close. Adds a lot to it.

Today, I tried the pinned tracks. They look very nice and seem like ModelKasten
TrumpeterNeuBaFahrzeugTracks001.JPG

The only issue is that they are...

USELESS!

After pinning the tracks, I tried lifting them off the jig and they fell apart!
:vmad

It turns out that the pins barely make it through the outer set of the track links!

Well, Terry Ashley did mention this in a post on Track-Link:
http://www.track-link.net/forum/modelling_kits/12163

Regards,

gnarfp! pretty shitty fact about the tracks!

Yes, I thought you would be pretty much displeased!

Well I guess you have to break out the wire.

My suggestion is to cut short lengths of rod, longer than those on the pins, for the track links going around the drive sprocket and idler. To these add the track pin ends with the pin itself trimmed off. The rest, treat like individual link tracks.

My suggestion is to buy the Amusing hobby or DML kit and ask for a refund from Trumpeter.

That would work but one still has to open up the holes to the correct size. I found it to be approximately 0.02 inch (#74 wire gage).

Regards,

as promised i stole some time and sneaked upstairs to assemble a section of the trumpeter tracks ...

the pins work and are long enough on my kit, what i noticed though was that they have to be pressed into the holes really hard so that they sit deep enough. a fraction of a mm too little and the tracks fall apart (ask me how i know! two times they fell into pieces! gnarfp!

)

whatever ... like roy, i can't tell if the complete run will hold together but this ten links section holds well ...

i'm afraid that your kit suffers from early run syndrome!

Thats one thing I found with all the model kasten tracks I used. When they snap in they are set, if no snap they arent seated properly and fall apart.

Well, I will be the first to admit I did not force them. I will try again. I am glad I have the ability to edit reviews! Luckily, I have not published them.

That does blow about those track pins, get some small staples. They make nice rigid little pins and already have two 90 degree bends factory installed! lol Plus that glue they use to hold them together makes a great lube agent sliding it into something tight- I use them for allot of little things.
