Love the concept but "minimal parts count" and "detail only where it matters" kills it stone dead for me.

With 3D printing, parts count can be reduced and accurized to better than just with large parts counts. Eduard is doing this with their hybrid kits that they are starting to release. I expect that this is also what is going on here.

I'm thinking its a jab at the Trumpeter P-47s which have the supercharger ducting which noone will see as its buried in the fuselage.

Yea i supose you are right but these are construction kits. This is leaning towards the ready assembled :) Then where will our hobby be .
Its horses for courses but we are already seeing ready painted, Tamiya are doing some ready assembled bar a dozen parts now.

It's a function of our digital society and the pursuit of the next dopamine hit. Spending time being by one's self planning a project, researching details or thinking of solutions to problems during a project are equated to wasted time, being boring or unproductive. The constant stimulation available from technology like social media, on-demand entertainment and on-line shopping with next day delivery has trained our brains to expect instant rewards and reduced the tolerance to waiting, planning, long term effort and delayed success and gratification.

Cheers,

I think it will drive traditional builders away from the hobby. I am already spending more than i want to on MFH models because the challenge is still there in the building and achieving something that represents your skill level. Basically MFH models are only as good as the builder, and thats the challenge. Kotare seem to be going down the road of the Eduard weekend models. Like i say i am sure its me thats the odd one out but i just dont get it :)
