Next teleconferance?

If it is not on a weekend, I'd be thrilled to join. Granted, that's when most people are available, but I don't want my wife interrupting. She works weekday evenings.

Sorry i dont do this kinda thing, i tried it once on the old computer and i couldn't hear what anyone was saying :) I get volume but its all muffled.
We are ditching the copper lines over here at the moment, by the end of the year the UK will all be fully fibre optic, the guy is coming Tuesday to connect me . I go from 20mbps to 1.6gbps if that means anything to anyone ....lol
I cant imagine it will be any better though its basically my hearing thats the problem :)
the downside seems to me to be its the end of the phone as we know it which worked via the copper lines so now it will be mobiles or and internet phone.......i supose its progress ????

I get it Paddy, when I do the Zoom call with these guys I get out my Sony ear buds with mic (that I use with my phone) and have no problem understanding them. If I didn't, I wouldn't be able to understand them either and the speakers would cause feedback through any mic I used.
Still, you should try it at least once. I had no trouble understanding anyone (even Ian from down under was clear as a bell)
But,
Definitely if you have hearing problems (like I do) get a set of head phones with a mic and don't try to do the laptop speakers. I can't hear my laptop speakers worth a flip at any time.

I will look into it Paul
I have Bluetooth headphones for the TV but although they have a phone mute i don't think they have a mic.
You can use a separate mic if you have the connect for it. The key is the head phones. The Sony set I have work great and I got an extension cord for them that gives me more reach (6ft) if I need to move around the room. I have several sets and use those phones all the time with my phone listening to stories while I am at work.
I don't use bluetooth head phones I hate stuff that just runs on batteries, cause batteries die and go bad. I prefer wired headphones even though the tether is a bit of a pain in the can at times.

Too right! Nod's as good as wink to a blind bat.
Tomorrow morning 0800 Central Standard time US.
Howzatt?

ha ha , its an age thing ;-) I loathe batteries....With headphones i have 2 pairs so one is on charge (usb) at all times so its just a 10 second swap when they go flat.
I have a really nice Bosch electric drill i bought about 40 years ago but when i fitted a new kitchen 10 years ago i bought a rechargeable drill for the job. Fast forward to today and the rechargeable got thrown out, it went through 2 batteries they were almost as much as a new drill, whenever you needed it you had to allow 2 hours to charge it and by the end it would only take 10 minutes use of charge.

I still have a really nice Bosch drill i bought about 40 years ago.

It is an age thing because for kids of today by the time the battery is shot the appliance is out of date anyway.
