MH 47G

[Sherman 18]

I'm told this is 160th Soar MH 47G. I caught it here in Goodland KS at Renner Field. I heard there was a problem while en route from California to Fort Campbell KY. Cool big helicopter. I tried for a couple of nights to get photos of but it was just not working even using a couple spot lights off the cars. I had to go to work early yesterday and then ran out and took some shots of it in the daylight. The white blurs is the snow. I keep hoping someone will release this in a large scale or make a conversion. Oh and they flew this neat flag from the tie downs.

I wonder if this is as loud as the standard Chinook, considering its role in life.

Yes your right MP the ones at the ramp are flare dispensers and the ones mid fuselage are chaff

Here are some shots I took in the dark of those mounts.

And yes it was cold out there, but just had to do it. I may not be that close to one again. I was outside the house last Wednesday night and heard them fly in. Army helicopters seem to stop there every couple months for fuel but pretty rare they stay over night. If they do stay they are gone in the early morning. This airport is really more like a pit stop.

I really liked how the paint was on it, spots of gloss and the parts of the paint chipped away with the light green primer.

Saul beat me to it. I was going to say that I knew a conversion was in the process of being made, but didn't know it was done.

The guy who started the conversion is a guy I've done some 3D design work for.
