@SA Dave, the Sud-Aviation Alouette III made its first flight in 1959 and entered service, with the French, in 1962. So this was definitely after the French left and South Vietnam ordered two from the French. (You made me pull out books) Sud-Aviation is now part of Airbus, who celebrated the Alouette III's 60th anniversary in 2019:

EC-121R Batcat, modified with ground sensors to monitor activity along the Ho Chi Minh trail. 553 & 554 Recon Sqns operated 20 aircraft out of Korat between 1967-72. Two were lost in take-off and landing accidents.
