Who makes the better Opel Blitz? Italeri at $29 with a canvas top, engine, and two figures, or Tamiya at $34 with fuel drums, two figures, and window masks?

Thanks ,

Bill

Hi Bill. It was 30 plus yrs ago I did the Italerie and it was a stand up kit.. Don't know anything about the tamaya one, but heck what's a few oil barrels. Better be on the safe side and....get both ;)

Hi Bill, having built both the only major issues i've had were the figures (best not spoken about in polite company! :pinch: ) otherwise i found both to be great kits! Having said that if i HAD to make a choice i'd go Italeri, despite being a Tamiya fan! But if the budget can afford it go both! (y)

Hi Bill.

I would say to you that the Tamiya builds easier, but there are a few things that it has wrong. Really only the rear springs, and the lack of the logo on the radiator grill. I have also heard that there is something about the wrong pattern for the wheels (not the tires), but I am a bit fuzzy on exactly what that is all about.

And the Italeri kit is a little more detailed in the undercarrage area, but it also comes with a bit more flash to clean up.

Personally because of the ease of building, I would go for the Tamiya kit. But they can both be made into a great kit either with or without any photo etch or resin.

There are shape issues with the grill on the Italeri kit.

Regards,

Nice info Saul,
This should be a big help to anyone working on one of these.
Thanks
Shawn

Thanks everyone for the feedback. Thanks for the link Saul. It looks like both kits have the 6-lug wheels, but the Italeri kit looks like it has more issues (narrow grill, headlight locations and door window irregularities) than the Tamiya one.
I thinks it finishes out Tamiya first, Italeri second.
Dario - Thanks for the link to PMMS. I was unaware of the bounty of information there.

Cheers,

Bill
