Hello all,

I’m enjoying the new site and all the fantastic posts and news.
I’m back into modeling after about a twenty-five year hiatus.
Like a lot of other people, I cut my teeth building models as a youngster. Plastic models were a popular birthday present to give and get. I built quite a few. I remember some military vehicles (a Sherman and a Panther), lots of airplanes, boats, cars, and a few figures (the green beret comes to mind). Even as a kid I knew it was all about the paint job. However, a fat artist brush and a fistful of oil paints coupled with no skill on my part yielded unsatisfying results.
I purchased a Paasche VL in 1980 for some school projects, and discovered Tamiya models and their acrylic paints. I picked up a few model magazines and got inspired. I think I finished eight tanks and started a few others before I gave it up due to my frustration and other interests.
I don’t know what flipped the switch for me, but the interest is rekindled, and my backlog of kits is growing. I have finished (or so I thought) a couple of old kits and started and nearly completed (you people set the bar pretty high) a couple of new ones . I’ll post some better photos (there are a couple in the Gallery) when I’m really done and when I get the photography figured out. Get ready to be bombarded with questions.

Cheers,

Bill Stephenson
