Happy 4th of July

Sorry, got distracted looking for images.

4th of July celebrations are a lot more subdue than they were when I was a kid. Or maybe I am. I remember the county had all sort of activities lined up at the Parks and Recreation centers around town, some short sightedness back in the late 70s shut them all down in favor of a massive single facility that has now closed...but I digress...

We had swim meet at the pool, I won 3rd place one year against kids that were older than me, my sister was really proud cause she was the one who taught me how to swim. Watermelon eating contest, cookouts, grease pole climbing, greased pig chase (not sure what was patriotic about greasing something but..). Softball games, just stuff all day long. At the end of the day there would be fireworks.

Think we'll be subdue today..check out the bench to see what I've screwed up so far.

Happy 4th of July!

I agree Bob things have gotten more subdued. Anymore it's a family get together.
Long gone are the days we celebrate our country...Then again our leaders hate our country. Go figure.

Happy 4Th of July in spite of them . :yipee

Cheers, Christian B)

Yeah, thanks corporate America! Now we get to be open on THE MOST IMPORTANT DAY OF THE YEAR FOR OUR COUNTRY. Don't get me started, this is way out of hand.

Please take a minute to think about the sacrifice and wisdom those who came before us made to make this country what it is. WE are the custodians, let's not forget that.

Happy Independence Day, long may she wave!
