Ah yeah,it's rather easy!Once you know it it's very clear.

Exceptions are known,sometimes just 2 numbers,sometimes up to 4 numbers.You might want to Google search them if you run into them.

Oh yeah.Not speaking of the German WW2 system,in the modern Dutch army for example the vehicle I called "my home" the number besides it's tactical marking was 23,meaning;2nd platoon 3th vehicle.
