F-4C Air National Guard Question

Need a little help from the Phantom Phanatics!

I am trying to figure out what the loadout for the Air National Guard F-4 Phantoms would be during the early 80s. I am planning to build the Acadamey F-4C and am going to use the Carcel decals for the Niagara Falls, NY ANG airplane (potentially for the CTA2). I grew up about 10 miles from the Niagara Falls AFB and still remember watching the F-4s flying overhead in the early 80s.

My question revolves around the load out for ANG aircraft. I assume they typically would be loaded for air to air, four AIM-7s, 4 AIM-9s and 2 wing tanks. Does that seem right? What would be the approriate AIM-9 version? AIM-9D?

Thanks for the help!
Mike

Interesting question, pretty sure their role in life would be intercept at that time so A2A would be logical. Might even had had a Centerline tank as well. Wonder what google images will tell us.

What Tail Code did they sport?

I would go with 2 Sparrows, and 4 Sidewinders. I think the Aim 9E. Also 2 external jugs. From what I can see you would not be remiss to put the external gun on the centerline. Maybe these will help

Definitely not -9D's they were used by the USN (and early RAF/FAA machines). AIM-7's would likely be the E version, possibly F's (no difference in layout), AIM-9's could be E's, J's or P's

Here you go:

Hope this helps.

Thanks for the help guys! I got a little help at another site and coupled with what you guys gave me here I am planning the following load out:

2 wing tanks
4 AIM-9Js
SUU-23 gun pod on the center line

I am still on the fence about the AIM-7s...

But thanks everyone for the help, and thanks James for the photo of the F-4. That's what they looked like! The one I have decals for is 64-0660, which has three MIG kills to its credit. Oh yeah - I screwed up, the decals are from Speed Hunter Graphics, not Carcel.

Thanks again everyone.

Mike, I just discovered your build on the Niagara falls AFB F-4s. I grew up in Lancaster and Alden, and remember when they flew F-101s out of that station. It was sad indeed when they flew the last 130 mission last week, but I'm sure a new legacy will be born. Do you still live in the area? Just curious.
