Display Cases

Who here has display cases? Did you have one made to fit or can you get them as a kit and assembly them yourself.

I am looking for one for the Gotha as I really do not want to suspend her from the ceiling.

Thanks.

Chris has a really nice setup. I know he'll share pictures with you. I got nothing but open for suggestions.

Looks like I will be going to look at a display case here locally that a man is selling. Its about 24 inches deep, 38 inches tall and 60 inches wide.

If I like it and looks good, will be coming home with me :cheer: :cheer:

Will keep you posted

Wow ... those are pricey ... you might think about a aquarium from wally world ... The one your describing sounds too big but maybe not .... :ro: :dude

Just me and the wife, so this will be going in the spare bedroom. I took the measurements and it will fit nicely in a spot I have picked out.

I will look at it first to see if it is indeed what I want.

I have an old oak entertainment center that used to house one of those boat anchor 32 inch Sony tube TVs. Hated the TV, but always liked the entertainment center. When I moved last time, I got rid of the TV, but after thinking about it and measuring a little, the center could become a nice display case.

All I need to do is add some adjustable shelf strips to the sides, enclose the back, add some LED lights, and add a door to the front. As the opening is 20 inches deep, 30 inches wide and a bit more than that high it should make a nice display case.

I got one also Paul, just need a new back panel where the tube stuck out. We paid WAY too much for that thing to trash it because we can't fit a wide screen in there now.

You could also go and have some Plexiglas cut to the dimension's you need ... use some of the Plexiglas glue ... and make your own ... :ro: :dude

Yup, same issue here Bob. There is about a 20 inch wide cabinet on the left side that has a door with a window on it and shelves which will work for the smaller stuff. The part for the old TV didn't have a back, but I found some thin panel at Home Depot that will work there very well. Lucky for me, I saved the casters that came on the thing originally. With no heavy boat anchors in it I can put them back on it and easily roll it around.

Castors? Mine didn't have anything like that, took two friends and a 12 pack of beer to get this monster moved 10 years ago. As far as I'm concerned it goes with the house next time we sell. :rotf

Well, went this morning and picked up the display case. My first craglist experience and went pretty well. $75 got me this.

My plan is to have at least one more center glass cut and lights added.

Very nice Paul!

A year or so ago I built my own out of scrap birch plywood and some glass shelves I found. it only took me a few hours to build, the staining and varnishing took a few day with dry times.

Now I love that. Need to find someone that does wood work and have one made.

Mine was just an ole cheap craglist score.

Man those are really neat! I Can't believe MP has all the purty work just sitting on a shelf gathering dust in his man cave
