"CONTACT!" 9th Infantry Division, Long An Province, Vietnam 1967

This is a figure of a Soldier from the 9th Infantry Division returning fire while patrolling canals in Long An Province in 1967. The figure is a cut down conversion of a figure from H3 Models. I added a short brimmed ERDL Camo boonie hat to the figure after I cut him in half to replicate him being in the water using the canal banks as cover. The water was made using Magic Sculpt Putty which was painted and then several layers of gloss varnish were applied. The banks were created with Magic Sculpt with vegetation from Dioramapresepe. I wanted to show that the guy was firing his weapon, so there are shell casings in the air by gluing parts of them to the plant extending into the canal. Since the canals flooded often, there usually was very little undergrowth along the banks.
