Comments on posts?

Yep you'll get to see. It's an exclusive build for that site so I have to finish it there first.

Here's your hint:

Uncle Tony :eek:ldguy

Looking good Tony, that will be well worth the wait given your skill set.

I for one rarely if ever go on Facebook. I mostly do it to keep track of my family and fellow high school classmates. I'm very close to my high school friends even now. I also check into a number of model groups to see some of what people are doing. I hate that Facebook takes people away from Forums like these. Personally, I like Forums like this because you can take your time; you can make intelligent comments and engage in conversation; and you can enjoy the camaraderie here far more than on the fast-moving Facebook with all the interruptions and off-topic posts. I personally cannot understand why someone would want to give all that up for a non-social "social media" site. I know Facebook killed one site because almost everyone who was a member started posting on the Facebook Group named after the same Forums instead of continuing to post on the Forums. I'll never understand why they did it.

This is community. This to me is more 'social' that that "social Media" known as Facebook. This is where real conversations can happen.

I apologize Mats, I try to post on your work and others, but lately, I've been working so much and so hard that I barely have any time to even check in anymore. Not to mention other issues I've had recently that have made life difficult. Still, I will try harder when I have the time. I will say that you get a lot more comments on your work than I do on mine, sometimes I'll get nothing, most times, two or three people only post. That doesn't stop me from posting my work, though. I just tell myself my work in 1/72 scale is too small for anyone to see! LOL! :gogo :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: :tomato

Please keep posting here. I'll be the second to the last one out the door when MP has to turn out the lights; I'll tell you that.

We have a saying in England that people often apply to the closing of rural post offices.... use it or lose it.
Its not really good enough to read a site in the background and not contribute, and personally i don't post to get a reaction.
I dont use FB, never looked at it, never belonged , i just don't like the concept for various reasons i wont go into here.
My feeling is if you put something in you will get something out, i don't care if people don't comment on my builds, i post them because i think they give me the right to then look at other peoples builds. I see then as a sort of "sub" i pay for belonging to the group.
A couple of point that spring to mind.
Over the last 3-4 years i have not posted, i have looked in on occasions but i have been getting my business up and running and it has been all consuming. I have felt a bit guilty though, taking hours of entertainment out of here without putting anything back.
Secondly i would like to thank everyone who has allowed me to slip back in here seamlessly without questions or comments, its as if i had never been away and i immediately felt at home again. ;)
Lastly, like MP here, i run my own website for motorcycle spares and websites are a bit like fruit trees. You need to trim the branches back every now and then to keep the core health and alive. websites do grow and go off on tangents, threads get duplicated, readers and comments become thin on the ground as the site grows too big.
MP has mentioned that this site needs pruning and he is absolutely right and i am sure he is on the case.

As for the thumbs up ? well its ok but a reader looking in will just see pages of thumbs ups while trying to follow a build. A thank you at the foot of a post doesn't add pages and pages too a build but says as much as a thumbs up (y)
