Camera question ..............

Cheyenne

Moderator
I'm thinking of selling my mule and goat , and buying a Canon EOS Digital Rebel T1i , 15.1 megapixel SLR cam .

I can tear down the camera and repair it and rebuild it , ........ but I don't know Jack about all the bells and whistles that make it a good or bad camera for taking pics. of models .

Anyone got the skinny on this camera , ......... good macro , ....... wide field on the macro for that " no blurr " outside the focus point ?

Oh , and what the hell is SLR and do I need it for photoing models ?

in general any eos is wonderful, makes brilliant pics! very good makro! i love canon!

you don't necessarily need an expensive dslr for photographing models, a bridge camera is more than sufficient! ask bob le muppy what camera he uses, i heard that it's a good camera!

I am quietly considering a camera too. My excuse is that my boy is moving to fast for any good still from the 'toys' I currently own.

Thanks Laura for the reply. Now to find out what a bridge camera is... we have 13 bridges in New York City.

a bridge camera is a compromise between a snapshot camera and a dslr!

still a fixed objective already several options a dslr features!

Funny, my first digital camera,. a Sony MVC-FD95 is considered a bridge camera!

Yet, only 4 high-quality images to a floppy disk was a limitation. I bought a memory stick with a floppy disk adapter but never bought the memory stick reader and my current PCs do not have a floppy drive! So, I best get the adapter.

Thanks again! you have saved me some money!

 < do not confuse this rare kiss with a signature. ;)

CHEYENNE,

Go Cannon ! EOS ! You can't lose. SLR is def. what you want & get a Macro Lens. You can zoom in with out th Blur on th Tiniest of P.E. & still get a great Picture ! Personally I use a SONY CyberShot, It's all I have but I've tweeked it to it's max & sometimes it comes up short. It has it's limitations & I've pushed mine. When I have th jack to upgrade I'm getting a Cannon EOS ! You will def. want to adjust th White Balance etc. & NOT use a flash, It will wash out th Model. Use lights instead.

I picked up one of these from Micro-Mark & I love it !! It really brought My pix up to Snuff !!Although I use My own Tripod & not th one in th Box. It's cool I just haven't tried it!

Me too! The damned thing is WAY smarter than the operator, but I love a challenge!

Does anyone have any opinions on the Ricoh Caplio GX-100?

It seems pretty much all I need (my camera just died and I want to keep the SD memory cards I bought).

Regards,

I'm always a bit apprehensive about getting something from a company that attempts to get into all markets. I don't know anything about these folks outside of the copier world. Sorry, not much help.

i looked the camera up and the reviews meant it was a good to very good camera with only two lows

- the high price/too expensive
- image noise

depending on the price you are offered i would take a decent bridge camera into consideration!

the price offered is $299USD, or $306USD with a 4GB SDHC card...

It is simply for models, I have other cameras for people and so on... I got bummed since I had carried over the model boxes (A-20, A-26, and Do-17k kits) to photograph in front of a time stamp (did not occur to just use a newspaper).

Oh well... the more than eight wheels seems like a nice GB but I must pass.

Regards,

I also found the Nikon Coolpix P100 for only $336USD...
any opinions there?

Regards,

Well, I bought the Nikon... not to wait until January 15th (unless the wife lets me use hers)

Wait, I will just charge the batteries on my Sony (crap the external FDD is in the same order as the Nikon).

Regards,

The Nikon should be a great choice, Saul. Please let us know what you think after you get to try it out, looking forward to hearing your opinion!
