AMPS Atlanta February 2013

Iron Mike

Master At Arms And Resident Curmudgeon
A last minute decision to road trip to Atlanta, GA was made and we braved the rain and snow to visit the AMPS and Figure Show. Upon our arrival, we hit the Mid Tenn booth where MP got his mitts on a new air brush to test drive.

This piece was flat, like a relief. Very cool!

The show occupied several rooms, here's an overview shot.

We came, we saw, we bought.

Sorry for the lack of clarity in some of the shots, my recent eye surgery played into some of it, but the overall lighting was not the greatest either. Cheers! :drinks

Yep, not long after I posted the negative karma message did the gmail start ringing. Everything fell into place and we set a time and place to meet up.

Great shots Mike, need to work on the photoshopping to get my double chins out.

I missed that Wolfman, WOW!

On a slightly related note, if you're going to hang hard bombs from an aircraft put the arming lanyards in place.

Met some really nice folks at the show, Mid Tennessee Hobbies was there with some great deals on airbrushes. http://midtennhobbies.com/

Coolminiornot.com was there with a massive display of their products. I picked up some Secret Weapons Pigments and Travis let me take a stick of their Instant Mold product. I'll get some pictures of that to show what it is.

Once again, had a big time and looking forward to the March Amps (y)

Great pics! thanks for posting :)I'm already looking forward to the next show here in Belgium, it will be in Leuven in March, maybe i dare to enter the competition there.....not sure yet.

And Mats, would you believe there was not one beer stand or any sausage on the grill here??

That Badger air compressor was really quiet and seemed to be something I'd buy. Not sure about the six gun handle on the air brush for my taste, but that's just me.

That's a Grex brush, right? I'm saving all my pennies for a Krome...although I'm joining an over-30 baseball league and had to reequip for that so no new airbrush for a while :(

That Cheyenne truck was done by my friend Kenneth from the LEM...good work!

Ah dang, I wish I'd known you guys were going, I'd have seen if I could have ridden down w/ you.

Looks like an excellent show!

Mike, how did the surgery go? Chris told me you were probably going to have to have surgery.

There was a Lemer there? Dang, wish I known that.

Yes that is a Grex brush, got mixed opinion of it. trigger-dual action airbrush, pull the trigger, air starts, pull it some more and paint flows. I probably would like it more if I had learned with it. It has good spray pattern and can get in tight. Think I will stick with my Badgers though.

Adam we didn't know we were going till like 9pm Fri. In fact I had already resigned to missing it.

Ah, yea, last minute decision. Didn't have anything planned for yesterday, so I could have gone, but I'm not worried about it.

Definitely want to try making it down for the AMPS show in April.

Thanks for sharing,Chief One Eye Done! ;) (y)

Book ends is a way cool idea, and there are a lot of interesting models to be seen.

Hope your vision will improve soon!

Greetings,Ron.

That's wunderbar! I've got to remember to wear my MA shirt to Valleycon next month so I can look as cool as you guys!

Cool! I can't wait to see you there!

I have also tried the Grex airbrush since my AMPS club has a free sample loaned to us for review purposes. I did pretty well with it. I did however, have problems when I switched to the Fine Tip. I couldn't get it to work, no matter what I did. Otherwise, I found it easier to use when I used my middle finger on the trigger instead of my trigger finger.

MP, Iron Mike, it was great to put some faces to the names. You guys look great! I've already resigned myself to never attending an AMPS Nationals, but I do hope to see you at an IPMS Nationals someday. Maybe you guys will make it to Colorado?

Thanks for the pics guys! They were wonderful to see.
