Airshow of the Cascades

Sarah and I spent most of yesterday up in Madras Oregon enjoying the day watching the airshow as well as seeing the grand opening of the new Erickson Air Collection. The Air Collection used to be based in Tillamook as the Tillamook Air Museum. It was moved due to the blimp hanger needing costly repairs and the central Oregon environment being better for the planes. The airport began life as a training base for B-17 crews. THere are still two intact B-17 maintenance hangers. What makes them even more interesting is the original signage that is inside of them.

Here is a link to my photobucket album of the photos I took. Not the best quality but then my camera is getting up there in age.

Here is the MA album https://www.modelersalliance.com/gallery/thumbnails.php?album=1491

Photobucket is blocked. Even then, don't they prevent downloading the album?

Regards,

I'll post up my favorite video. Not the best quality since it was taken with my little point and shoot camera. But Sarah and I just happened to be walking from the main air show over to the museum and were able to stand maybe 60 feet from their P-51 as it was starting up.

Photobucket is blocked from work. I do have Photobucket accounts which I no longer use as the people I want to share with can't download albums thereby forcing them to click through each one, increase the size, then download. With a large album as I usually create, it isn't optimal.

Regards,

Oh I see Saul. I was tempted to add a new gallery to the bunch here. I wasn't sure if it would be to big of a gallery though.

Saul can you try using the HTTPS link? That's one way I use to get around it. It's been opened up for us at work since they changed content filtering services.

Ryan you're more than welcome uploading them here, don't think we have a limit on the albums.

Clickin' now to check out the images.

Cool Bob, uploading them here as well for our members that can't access Photobucket (y)

This is interesting.

Check out the diagonal slats in the construction of the wall in that hanger, that REALLY old hanger.

That is one of the original hangers from the war. I guess in the pilot ready room there is graffiti from the time as well.

This might cause some conversation..

Chipped NMF?? Or did they spray silver over OD to make it look like NMF. Remember that NMF birds were done as cost and weight savings during the high output of construction, really think it would be stretching it to say that this was standard practice back in the day.

Ryan! :smack
One picture of the Corsair...REALLY? :smack

I know. When I got back home I realized there were a few that I completely forgot about :gogo The corsair was one of them as well as the museums A-26 Invader. Oh well just gives me an excuse to go back again :yipee Besides I had to rush out and be last in line to check out the inside of the B-17.

Posted a link to my MA Album for you guys that can't get into Photobucket at work (y) If anything needs to be fixed let me know.
