Al E. Gator Fryed Fish Shack 1/48 scratch built

I read a book a while back about the building of one of our lines around here (got absorbed by SCL/CSX) and it talked about the boom to the local businesses the route did. I could see ol' farmers and workers coming up with ideas like this to take advantage of the opportunity. Really neat idea Gerry.

It will feature a animated swamp soon as I find O-scale gators & a gatorium where the belts, shoes & Round steak come from ... :rotf

Ok well yesterday morning I glued the ridge beam on top of the shack. so then I went to work upon coming home I looked at it and it was all crooked and the carpenter and me wouldn't let it pass so I tore the whole thing up and started over I will post more in the morning right now I have to go to work ... :eek:ldguy

I apologize for not posting sooner. I have been following this along the whole time. I like what I see.

One point of interest: I think you should move the water line coming out of the barrel on the roof of the cab down to the bottom of the barrel lid. Otherwise, unless you have a water pump, your gravity-feed water line will still leave half the water in the barrel before it has to be refilled.

I like the burner cans inside. They look quite realistic. So, you're not going to have propane tanks inside under the table? That's cool. I really like what I'm seeing here. If I could find an appropriate truck in 1/72 scale, I might consider replicating this in my scale. I might skip the interior details though....

Keep going Gerry, this is really coming along well!

Thanks Mark I've been very busy lately ... Nothing I build seems to be good enough for Me ... I'm my own worst critic ... and then there is the missing parts ... until I beat the carpet monster to the death ... I have put a metal tray in my drawer that is always open ... the parts fall in there which is helping ... but the Manifold on my Mickey Thomson build launch itself after an attack from above ... So that being said ... Here's the devastation I did on the truck ... Just this has to be straight in order to continue ...

I can't wait to get home and rebuild ... My fingers wouldn't cooperate this morning + I've been burning the Midnight Oil ... and getting up with the chickens ... :frantic

Oh and on the water pipe I was thinking the same thing .... but if the tube runs to the bottom of the tank on the inside + there was a hole there from painting (I would get all kinds of grief from Dave about this being a putty queen) I was hoping for a little siphon action ... you know the water seeks it's own level thing ...
