53 Ford F-100

This a pickup I had briefly in High School. I had to buy a second kit to get a straight 6 engine, and then I had to severely modify it because the manifolds were on the opposite side as it was from a later model. The color is Cape Blue, a 60's GM truck color that we painted our equipment. It got a new paint job when the door of a building under construction fell on the hood, it was originally Sea Foam Green like the interior of the engine compartment still is. I made the box from the newer kit into a trailer, used to see those in the old days. The instrument panel detail is reduced from a photo and glued on, the Ford legends on the tail gates are an ALPS printed decal.

You really had to go all out to build a model of your old truck eh John? Looks like it is coming together.

When I was 8 or 9 (maybe 10?) I got an AMT pickup kit. It was an old truck kind of like this and had a metal clip that acted like a hinge for the hood. I also remember it had some extra tools and a couple of tanks that now looking back on it were for Oxy Acetylene. Kind of wish I knew for shure what kit it was as I would like to build it again for nostalgia.
