Crazy. First the USAF lost a Falcon (Thunderbird 6) following an Air Force graduation flyover in Colorado. Maj Alex Turner ejected safely and is undergoing routine post-jettison evaluation. http://www.airforcetimes.com/story/breaking-news/2016/06/02/thunderbirds-f-16-crashes-following-air-force-academy-graduation/85307094/

Hours later, the USN lost a Hornet (Angel 6) in Tennessee immediately after takeoff. Unfortunately USMC Capt. Jeff Kuss went down with the aircraft. http://www.navytimes.com/story/news/2016/06/02/navy-blue-angel-jet-crashes-smyrna/85308972/

It would've been super creepy if this happened on Monday. (6/6/16)

I was at Beaufort MCAS when LCDR Kevin Davis went down in #6 back in 2007. They make it look so easy but it doesn't take much to realize how dangerous their jobs are.

Sad indeed but you also need to realise these guys fight to get to fly for these teams .

Even the crew chiefs fight to get those jobs even though they work tireless hours and incur job expenses that never get reimbursed.

While I was stationed at Nellis, we lost the entire team at the practice airstrip in the desert . Two days later ( on a Sunday morning ) the crash crew was picking up one of two remaining T-38's when a pilot trying out for the team forgot to lower the gear for landing . Guess he was not selected .

These people know what they are signing up for, but loss of life is always sad .

Very sad news indeed. Prayers for the family of the Blue Angel pilot and hope the T-bird pilot is OK. :salute

It's been a rough May for Aviation. The ol' P-47D Thunderbolt augered in, in the Hudson River as well. :salute
