10th Annual National Memorial Day Parade

After my speaking engagement, the time spent in the DC area was for the family. One of the highlights for my wife was the Memorial Day Concert at Capitol Hill, we were seated in the VIP area. My son also loved the VIP treatment for the 10th National Memorial Day Parade but didn't like the bleachers as it was in the sun, so we moved to below a tree. The parade was 2 hours long with taps played at the midway point.

Before the parade, I met with owners at the rally point. My son got to sit in some of the vehicles:

This MRAP prototype was on display but many items were removed for OpSec. note the screens bolted on to hide the suspension details...

Loads of collector cars. As usual, my spot the Boricua (Puerto Rican) paid off:

In total, I have over 1900 images from the trip not counting the full video of the parade. None of course of the venue where I spoke as cameras and phones were not allowed (clearly stated that they would be confiscated).

My son also enjoyed visiting the stables of the 3 Infantry where he got to meet the horses and see the carriage which did make an appearance at the parade.

Regards,

How wonderful for your boy to experience all this- not to mention you. ;) Great pics, Saul- cheers!

Tell the truth, you went all that way for the Flying Tigers float. :D

Is it me, or does the mounted gentlemen resemble Stalin?

Great pics Saul, thanks for taking the time to post.

I think he's suppose to be Black Jack Pershing.

Further reading, if you don't know about Sgt Reckless.

I went for the conference but meeting veterans was a great bonus.

As Bob mentioned, he was supposed to represent Gen. Black Jack Pershing during the war with Mexico.

Now tell us about your speech Saul.

Correct about the General.

Can't disseminate what was discussed though...
