Hi John, I like the pump in that corner better - dio's are like that arn't they. You go so far down the track and then something tells you a detail doesn't fit. I have been there about a 100 times myself.

I have looked back through the thred but can't find a mention of the house.
What kit is it or did you 'scratch' it up?

House is scratch from foam core with sheet styrene carved to give wood texture and direction to the decorative boards. Gingerbread is 3D printed and the roof is cast dental stone using diorama debris silicone molds.

So I had made a butter churn way back in the early 90s and made a latex mold of it so I could make more if needed.(before I leaned of RTV molds.). I dug out all the old molds I had made and all of them we fine except one, yep the butter churn. So I made another one!

So this was my first go round with air-dry clay. I usually use epoxy putty. Other than the slow drying time, I really liked it.

I would have stuck with epoxy, my experience is that air-dried clay cracks over time.

I like the figure layout, convincing, tells a story. Personally, I've never had the air clay crack like Piet, but there could be a ton of factors why we got different results. I've also been in the habit of scoring the plywood surface to give grip for the air clay, but also, I do load the board with white glue, undiluted, and let it get tacky, then spread the clay. so far so good. Let's put it this way, it's a far cry better than using celluclay, like in the old days, HA!

Love it John, looks excellent. I use air dried modelling clay all the time and it will crack on drying when thick. Its easy to patch the cracks with modeling paste though.

So no cracking and minimal shrinking at the edges. I have coated with AK turned earth gritty acrylic paste then a mixture of garden soil, small stones, sand, static grass and small roots chopped up with the hobby knife. I have also added silflor tufts and polak bushes. This will all get painted to unify things.

Yep, the base is set now, excellent. It would be hard to see cracks down the road with the cover you've added, and if ya did, it should be very minor. I can agree with Ian, I never laid it on heavy for any of the bases, so that may be my saving grace? I like to keep this stuff handy, but I seal the package as best as possible, any air leaks and it's worthless when ya need it.
Groundwork looks quite excellent, John!
