    Yes indeed, an early form of ejection seat that actually used shotgun shells to ignite it, however pilots didnt tend to trust them and would just turn over and fall out in the usual manner. Tom

    Ok Ive had a few modelling screw ups just lately so im trying with this build to get my mojo back so to speak. For the build im using the new Airfix P-51D in 1/48 scale with a couple of extras. I plan on doing the 'Little Indian' scheme as flown by Lt. Harold Hettema, sadly i didnt find out...

    Hi Pup, The alclad left a sand paper like texture on the model and tiny amouts would rub off too so i sanded it down which lost some detail and resprayed. Looks ok at first glance but up close you can see some issues.

    After a bit of a poor start with the alclad i sanded it down and resprayed with model master paint, its not my best work but im calling it done.

    Thanks Pup, I read somewhere you can decal straight over the Alclad without the need for a gloss coat, or wouldnt you recommend that? The problem with Alclad is there are so many conflicting online reports about it. I have noticed now its drying more its starting to look more shiny so thats...

    Ok my first use of Alclad, i did go back and apply a gloss coat, looks ok i think, certainly not the mirror shine of Pups chrome Jug but passable as a working airframe.
