Airfix have made a 1930's RAF fighter These aircraft from the 30's are known as silver fighters as they were all silver doped. there were many different types from the many makers of the day but this one looks good and was what Douglas Bader crashed when he lost his legs...

    Italeri Bugatti 1/12

I wasnt going to use the decals because they looked pretty imposable to do with the cover louvers ....but changed my mind Now i need to find a way of attaching the whole thing to a base.

You underestimate you contribution to this forum Rhino. Your projects and musings make the site what it is, the diversity from regular posters like you is the key IMHO to why we all keep coming back.

    E-Type jag, Scale = big.

A few seams that need removing but basically the shell is not to bad. Remember thuis kit is 62 years old !!! Pictures are great for showing up bits you missed :-) like right at the top of the seam. Shame the tail doesnt open but its not worth trying to open it up,

Got a commission today for a Porsche 356.......just as i was getting over the car thing and looking forward to something with wings. only viable option seems to be the Revell 1/16 C model I just wish i could get a body shell out of Italeri for the Bugatti but i have tried twice now, paid my...

I wish it was stickier Bob it seems to lift very easily. As i have to do the blue first i wonder if you can clear coat the BMF with the Blue or whether it will bead on the foil of just kill the shine .

    E-Type jag, Scale = big.

To my surprise both windows do wing up and down and they are actually really smooth Also been experimenting with the possibility of using BMF for the chrome trim, i have tried several versions of spray chrome ie MRP and Alclad, both work quite well on larger areas but not on strips like roof...

Cracking is usually because the under coat wasnt fully dry, paints contract as they dry and if the under coat dries slower than the top coat the under cost will crack the top coat as it contracts/dries. I found this out when i sprayed the front wing on my MGB years ago, i gave it clear...

    E-Type jag, Scale = big.

Today i looked at the doors. You have to have faith that the guy that designed this got it right because the doors are curved and a complicated shape. The body shell needs a corresponding complicated cut out and shape however because the shell at this stage has spring about 25mm /1" narrower...

Ok so an update. I wasnt happy with the dust i had although it was only a few specs it did notice. I flattened the whole thing back to a uniform finish with 3000 grit and removed the dust but then i found if you do that it also removes the metallic effect I am using Tamiya rattle cans with Mica...

    MacRobertson Air Race Line up

If i had to give a verdict i would say paint too thick needing too high a pressure. Someone once told me that the paint should drip like water off the stirring stick, any that remains on the stick should drain instantly if you touch the stick against the side of you airbrush reservoir. its...
