    MFH Abarth 1000-SP 1/12

My problem is , as Bob pointed out a few posts ago "i wouldn't have it any other way" :-) I was looking for a genre that really stretched me and i think i found it. The bottom line is ...is the end result worth the effort and looking at the 2 bikes i have built they are without doubt, streets...

    MFH Abarth 1000-SP 1/12

I tried some heat on a sprue and it melted very quickly, i dont think its an option but i will look into ultra low heat solder. Semi gloss bl;ack And balanced with the chassis I am going to experiment with detailing the rear as its seen (unlike the front ) to see if it really adds...

    MFH Abarth 1000-SP 1/12

The rear space frame, engine and suspension mounts is tricky. They cast in the location pins but not the corresponding holes. There are basically no right angles so all the holes have to be drilled at an angle which dictates the the shape of what you end up with :) Is this correct ? i guess we...

    MFH Abarth 1000-SP 1/12

The problem is Paul this white metal is basically solder so imagine 1.5mm solder on a real and you see that even putting the model down on an unever surface will bend things like the sway bar. It will be a case of going round everything when its finished and adjusting things. My worry before i...

    MFH Abarth 1000-SP 1/12

I would love to see someone else have a go at one of these, it would give a bench mark. Is this a silk purse from a sows ear..or sows ear from a silk purse 🤣 Normally i would not be very happy with thisso far but actually its a learning curve and i do feel i am gaining some good info from...

    Latest Acquisitions Revisited!

The separate dials from Quinta look very good but the complete panels are poor, i bought them for my FW190 build and i didnt use them they were that bad . 3D Print doesnt seem to work well enough to make it an up grade from std Decals, in fact its often a downgrade, especially if you want...

    Latest Acquisitions Revisited!

The airscale decals are nice but i wish they would increase the resolution, the problem is they sell some of them as specific US/RAF/German decals but TBH they all look the same because of lack of detail.

Tamiya 1/12th Scale Ducati Superleggera V4 W/Racing Kit

The problem with these Tamiya bikes is....A/ they are 1/12 so really quite small and B/ they nearly all have a fairing like this Ducati and despite most of the work being in the highly detailed engine , you will never see it . TBH they are really just a exersive in paint and decals. PS..I have...

    Bristol Blenheim Mk. I 1/72

I remember seeing one of these at an air show over here, couldn't believe how quiet it was ...almost no engine noise, just whoosh of air.. If i remember correctly it was flying with a gladiator and a Lysander that day as all three used the Bristol Mercury engines.

    MFH Abarth 1000-SP 1/12

Black is the way forward i think for the tub and the space frame. I will then contrast it with silver , natural, and other greys on the suspension and anti roll bar, steering etc. I may try shading the panels a bit lighter to bring the frame out.. These are not kits you can pick up and put...

    Next teleconferance?

ha ha , its an age thing ;-) I loathe batteries....With headphones i have 2 pairs so one is on charge (usb) at all times so its just a 10 second swap when they go flat. I have a really nice Bosch electric drill i bought about 40 years ago but when i fitted a new kitchen 10 years ago i bought a...

    MFH Abarth 1000-SP 1/12

hmmm First mistake :) I was happily assembling things when i realised i was going down a blind alley... The car seems to have a space frame with fibreglass's infills. Its hard to know if the frame is moulded into the body which would make sense for strength but a nightmare to repair damage...

I will look into it Paul I have Bluetooth headphones for the TV but although they have a phone mute i don't think they have a mic.

    Next teleconferance?

Sorry i dont do this kinda thing, i tried it once on the old computer and i couldn't hear what anyone was saying :-) I get volume but its all muffled. We are ditching the copper lines over here at the moment, by the end of the year the UK will all be fully fibre optic, the guy is coming Tuesday...
