    Pocher Rolls Royce Phantom 1:8

Mine is about 6l and will take a couple of motorcycle carbs which is what i bought it fore. TBH its ancient now but still going, timers etc are clockwork :). It has cost me a lot more in special fluids that its purchase price though.

    Pocher Rolls Royce Phantom 1:8

Hi Greg this model sat half assembled on a shelf for 30 years and was covered in Kitchen grease and dust so the only way i was ever going to get paint to sit well on the plastic was to use an ultra sonic.....i was pleasantly surprised how well it worked.

When in doubt...plough on regardless Rear axle stripped ultra sonic cleaned and painted :) I used a flash on the chassis rails so they look a bit odd but you get the idea for the colour.

Dont forget i bought this as well, it arrived and i havnt even looked in the box........I dont want to open it till i have time to do it and that will be after i retire......sometime :) i have learned a lot already and this looks to have been properly built judging by the wheels, upholstery...

Don't worry Paul but thanks anyway :) I 'm going to carry on and see how far i get, i can always just leave out the brake linkages if it comes to it

Possibly Bob or you can buy spare parts at a price, the real underlying problem is i cant identify most of the parts so having worked out the instructions , there are basics like some of the links are 10mm or 12 or 15mm long and you have no way of identifying which are which from the...

Unfortunately the only mouse i have is busy working my computer :-) and it doesnt do stick shift anyway, just auto..

Today i have found more problems with this project A lot of the rear linkages have been fixed with either solder, CA. or melted with a hot knife . This is a problem because A/ a lot of it is not assembled correctly and B/ You can see above the cam that expands the brakes with a nut. What you...

    Pocher Rolls Royce Phantom 1:8

Looking through my box of bits and it seems to have 4 made up wheels and two unmade ............The only rolls i remember with 6 wheels belonged to lady penelope :-) The wheels are awful, huge splits in the rims, missing spokes and they will spoil the finished job, if i was to ever finish it...

    Pocher Rolls Royce Phantom 1:8

Its a poor design because basically you have to leave everything loose or nothing moves anyway . I suppose a small amount of thread lock on each screw and nut would do it but ultimately its all a bit of a nonsense fitting brakes to a static model :) Progress picture

I have to say i had pretty much given upon making the brakes work on this....however when i bought this i downloaded the instructions from scalemates before hand.I couldn't make any sense of them at all as far as all the linkages and plates went. Today i looked at the instructions that came with...

I finished the ignition leads today, it has 12 as the 6 cylinder engine has twin plug heads. Its an odd set up as the left side seems to have a magnitio and the right has a coil and distributor. Employed my new Dremel drill stand and i have bought a mini X-Y axis table for it now

Baby- AMT's Supernatural 19967 Chevy Impala

Lot of truth in that Bob. I have been amassing car parts in particular screws and wires etc. I always buy more than i need and each time i build now i get nearer to doing the whole job from stock. As for Greg ? well getting something like that glove box to work is almost worth the whole build...

You are right Paul, i tried this painting thing you mentioned and the brass tube turned into a sort of bakelite tube. :) You can see here if you enlarge or look carefully this tube has shattered on the left ? so i presume it's bakelite

More than happy to do the detail work and i will... but adding this multitude of links and rods and brackets to make the brakes work on a car that had hydrolic brakes ??.....thats bordering on turning a good model into a toy car :-) its a bit like adding a refueling probe to a mustang :) I...

    Pocher Rolls Royce Phantom 1:8

Yea its a bit of an anomaly with these kits i think, its odd because devotees to these builds mount their cars on mirrored bases to display all this completely made up mass of linkages and rods :-)

    Pocher Rolls Royce Phantom 1:8

hmmmm. this proving a lot more difficult that expected :) My problem is i have lots of parts like this and no idea where they go. They would have come ina labelled numbered bag and the bag was stapled to a card with their identity on.. What i have is a load of bits. the instructions are not...
