    what colour is this ?

Any idea what this colour is on the engine cases. I come across it a lot on bikes and cars, it looks like a king of graphite maybe ?? Often see it on raw dark alloy castings like gearboxes.

All Righty ... What's on the bench today?

Its a personal thing , you are either happy with something or not. the only saving grace here is the model is as rare as hens teeth so it deserves to be finished. i wont find another at an affordable price. I am going to build the front wheel and take it from there :-)

All Righty ... What's on the bench today?

Yesterday i tried to build a wheel :) having scraped 2 resin rims and 7 hours i gave up. Shame because i had to destroy the kit wheels to get the wheel hubs to fit to the new rims. Upshot was i have a very rare Protar model without wheels.... My problem is the wheel have very large dia hubs and...

A...

    Protar AJS 7R 350cc (1/9)

Basically they are leading link forks. the wheel rocks against a damper/spring on the bottom of the forks instead of the forks travelling up and down. Advantage is the forks are rigid so much stronger, the set up is lighter. Maybe not as good on sharp corners where the bike leans over so you...
