My step father was on the north Atlantic run. He didnt really talk about it but he was on a flat top and one day he mentioned that clearing the ice off the decks was a continuous 24hr a day job and once said they used to test the catapult by firing damaged aircraft off the deck. The thing he...

No we were warned about using ladders by the factory inspector years ago, you are supposed to use a hydraulic platform with wheel locks in the workplace now. On one of our sheet metal presses which was an old cast iron war time thing they insisted we fit so many guards to it that it became so...

    just maybe people do listen

A few months ago now i wrote to innocraftsman with a couple of comments about their gear. The first was about the lack of a chuck/indexing head and sent them a picture of what i was meaning. About a month back they introduced a chuck/indexing head exactly as i described.... I then wrote and...

All Righty ... What's on the bench today?

As i didn't have a build page i will put a couple of pictures here as technically.....the light box is on the bench :rotf It was all going rather well until I hit the home run. Two problems, 1/ the kit supplied drive chain was of the rubber band variety and decades in a box had left it...

Reviews say the PE set is worth having and you would use about 50% of it which sounds pretty std for PE.;.. My problem with any PE is its 2D and with 3D printing its pretty much obsolete now. I am not sure on this scale how 2D railings would work but in this game i suppose you have to run with...

Probably one of my all time great war movies was the Cruel sea. It was a prescribed book in English classes at school and the film was just so atmospheric and of the Era. Being in black and white helped and they managed to find authentic British weather and north Atlantic seas. Revel do a RN...

I was interested to see you have a 4 blade prop so i looked it up and it seems to be linked with the change from Hispano engine to Wolsey. You only seem to see the 4 blade in period pictures which makes me think the 4 blade was probably more common

I ordered some 3d printed ones as well but decided against as they are very weak and i though they might just snap when i tension the wire.. In the end i made my own, they were not technically correct but they made all the right noises :rotf to the casual observer.
