Your heart has to be in a build Bob or it will just be a chore, thats why i never do group builds :-) anyway variety across the forum here is more interesting for everyone , Size is also an issue for me, i remember when i built the 1/24 spitfire, i couldn't get into the build, it was too big for...

    Revell 1/144 HMCS Snowberry

I found the bulkhead which was lose in the box was from a warped spru which hasn't helped however with some twisting and good luck it now fits the front deck and a small tapered slither of plastic card has sorted the back deck

    Revell 1/144 HMCS Snowberry

Despite my best efforts to get the basic hull correct I have been thwarted because the 2 halves of the hull are not quite symmetrical. There is a central bulkhead that locates in slots each side of the hull and this forms the vertical wall between the forward and aft top decks which are on...

Yea i cant do much without the PE, even now i expect the portholes will need to be shaved off and replaced but no rush, its quite nice to have some down time and i really enjoy the research which takes me longer than the build :rotf

    Revell 1/144 HMCS Snowberry

This is my first attempt at a ship. I would guess i started building about 55 years ago so quite a miles stone for me  . I have to admit i know nothing about ships other than the basics you pick up on in life so all i can do is apply general modeling principles and steal other peoples...

Actually as good as anything, probably easier to hold the part than trying to clamp it and have it move as you tighten it

I have often wondered why these things dont have a folding beam, now i see that the Ausfwerks did. shame its out of production.

Beautiful ship, beautiful build. Made my first mistake today by buying a new can of hull Red.......then finding out that flower class Corvettes used black on the hull. I also downloaded the instructions from scalemates for the PE.....Tell you what ? most of thats not going to happen :rotf this...

Thanks Rich, thats what i am finding, by the last 9 months of the war most ships had reverted to the overall peacetime grey . I think you could chose any scheme and it would be hard to prove wrong but there are companies doing std western approaches set of 5 paints which will make life easier.

    Compass Rose.

I have a few questions if anyone can help / Nearly all the models of Corvettes are in Camo, blue/grey but nearly all the period pictures of Wartime ships are plain grey ? When you build a ship model do you build the hull and paint it to save masking later, then paint the deck and add it, then...

That really is subtle even on my 4k monitor. I think when you get to this stage people will all see it different and so will their screens so its down to the artist and what satisfies him. I noticed when i was building my last bike how dificult it is to relay colours let alone tones via a screen...
