    Latest Acquisitions Revisited!

Agree the painting of biplanes is always a puzzle as so much is done before assembly and definitely before rigging. I remember when i built my Bristol fighter years ago how the olive topside of the wings came round to the underside and formed a frame for the sail colour, a right pain :-)

    Latest Acquisitions Revisited!

It does seem odd that this one peace of rhyming slang has stuck all these years on.

    Latest Acquisitions Revisited!

Money is really tight for a lot of people here, the basic costs of living have rocketed with the price of oil but i does mean there are some bargains to be had on Ebay at the moment, people just dont have the spare cash for things like models.

    Latest Acquisitions Revisited!

I picked this up yesterday, i have had a an eye open for an RE8 for some time but they fetch silly money and are few and far between..........then this popped up. I put what i thought was a silly bid on these two and to my surprise I won. More than i wanted to pay for an RE8 but a bargain with...

    Conundrum for the modern day

A problem i think that effects every country these days is the cost of labour which dictates the cost of all repairs. For many years the cost of restoration of vintage motorcycles has far exceeded the completed values. To make matters worse what might be viable at the start of a project could...

    Latest Acquisitions Revisited!

    Latest Acquisitions Revisited!

Yea but i went from an acquisition to a watch makers how too. I just watched a you tube video on how to strip a watch :) If i can unwind the spring, it may already be unwound, remove the balance mech and the crown wheel i shouldn't need to go any further to remove the winder mech. I am very...

    Latest Acquisitions Revisited!

That one clips as well Its jewelled movement but i would guess it wouldn't score more than 3/10 for quality. it will require a strip down to get to get to winder mechanism..

    Latest Acquisitions Revisited!

Update, it occurred to me that it wouldn't turn so evenly if it was a stripped thread and although there is no lip to lever on i managed to prize the back off.....to reveal another back :) Sorry to all that this is no longer really a latest acquisition..

    Latest Acquisitions Revisited!

That is a bit of a miracle paul .all credit to you. I think i can see now why it was in auction as not working. Using some gorilla double sided tape and a 6 inch steel rule as a lever i have the back turning but thats all it does ie: its not unscrewing. I haven't tried the front as the glass...

    Latest Acquisitions Revisited!

One of the things that attracted me to it was the face as so often they are damaged or faded, the hands look perfect as well and are a metalic chrome blue ..ish you can just see it here as yet i cant open it, it may well un screw but there is no obvious way of doing so I presume it would have...

    Latest Acquisitions Revisited!

Its not a model but it is a latest acquisition I bought this at auction as it seemed unusual to me, i also thought it might make a nice accessory on a stand with a WnW French aircraft. its not working but closer inspection shows the threaded shaft for the winder has snapped, its not a clean...

    Latest Acquisitions Revisited!

Yes thats exactly what i did thats why the picture appears cropped as the car tilts This is a better example, imagine the lines on the paper are trees , they need to be nearer vertical :) (unless its very windy) So picture rotated left a bit End of the day its a free down load so have a...
