No easy way to tackle these vintage control panels. They are very 3D so not a lot of good for 3D decals or PE, you just have to get your smallest paint brush out and hope no one looks to close 🤣

    Oshkosh by gosh

Looks like my mistake and they were only flying 7 over NY as well. Its confusing because the Italians are flying 9 and they also trail red white Blue smoke. without being political ;-) the Gov has approved £15 billion increase in expenditure but the armed forces review wanted nearly twice that...

    Oshkosh by gosh

At the New York 250 celebration the arrows flew 10 hawks, 9 display and a camera-ship, they flew these 6000 miles + to be there but they dont have the airframe life or spares for a full display now until the aircraft are retired in 2030 ? There is zero news on replacement aircraft so its likely...

Right now i plan to make my own bobs buckles with twisted wire loops and brass tube. The buckles i have ordered ?? well at least the resin are no good for this job, just not strong enough if you plan to tension the wires .... and the metal ones i might be able to use a few on control wires etc...

    Oshkosh by gosh

Right...forget the Arrows, they only sent 7 aircraft which kind of defeats the whole purpose of a close formation demonstration. Would you believe they dont have enough airframe hours left on these aircraft to fly a nine ship, what a bloody state to be in.

Well i might use my prerogative of artistic licence. :-) An under coat of deck tan and some oils to replicate some wood......................these will take an age to dry so i might have a look at the engine next

Not a lot of brass Bob But then you never really know with restorations but i think brass was more 1914 than 1918 also agree Rich, birch and mahogany ply would give it that light /dark sandwichSpruce is pretty much the same colour as birch which is a shame as it would be nice to have...

    Latest Acquisitions Revisited!

The problem there is they are confusing turnbuckles with clevis pins and forks or as we called them in the motorcycle world, clevis pins and rod ends, a confusion also in the Gaspatch description as well. Turn buckle Rod end What we need as it has a hole for 0.2mm wire Not buying any...

A well trodden road. Parts sprayed with deck tan prior to oils Looking at other builds people tend to do a light frame and darker panels behind however i think the frame would more likely be a hard wood with a lighter ply wood behind ? As for this where do you start ? the whole thing is...

This is an Airco DH9 from WnW. An odd choice for me as a car and motorcycle builder these days but I was inspired by sandbaggeruk on largescalemodeller and his recent Armstrong-Whitworth F.K.3 . I picked this up on EBay for £100. More than I wanted to pay but way less than anyone else it seems...

    Latest Acquisitions Revisited!

Yea but like i said how do you attach the wire to the buckle I need to stop and work this out :). I bought some resin 3D turnbuckles and they are not up top the job. they are way to brittle, the shaft on them is under half a mm so if you were to fit them at just a couple of degrees out, and...

    Latest Acquisitions Revisited!

Today i bought some turn buckles. I did this without thinking really but i have a problem. How do you attach the rigging wire to the turn buckle given that in 99% of cases the ringing attaches to the plain end with the eyelet attached to the wing or strut ? If i am going to us the brass tube...
