    Fiat Mephistopheles (take 2)......

At the risk of being repetitive and becoming boring my plan here is to continue my "alternative version" theme. The problem was I never kept any of my models so now I have retired and closed my motorcycle business , I have some space which I never had before. I would like to replace some of my...

All Righty ... What's on the bench today?

So here we are a day later and i have 2 front and 2 slightly larger rear mudguards. i dont know if i can use these but its been a valuable learning experience :) I could probably remove the brass bits now the sides are on as they should hold the shape but the brass does at rigidity and might...

    The latest Something I 've been doing.........5 x WW1 Armoured cars - progress 12th March 2026 - Romfell WEATHERING

Ha ha yes the average phone camera is so bad they have to install a very sophisticated program to fix the image before you even see it. But look at the lens with its 10x magnification ? Truth is its not 10x magnifying anything, its selecting a bit of the image and digitally enhancing it to...

    Kotare Spitfire

Yea i use to build gliders as a kid, i remember my dad and i built a keil kraft topper which was a 40" free flight thing. i took us ages and was my first big build. Anyway , long story short we launched it of the side of a local hill and it went up and up until it was a spec and disappeared last...

All Righty ... What's on the bench today?

I haven't used heat Bob, that might be more of a complication given my limited knowledge than an advantage , you are right though i need a jig which might take more effort than the mudguard itself :-)

All Righty ... What's on the bench today?

I have been trying to make some vintage type mudguards or Fenders ? for some time now on and off but i just cant get to do what i want in a form i can reproduce for 4 corners. This looks ok for one but 4 the same will be a mission I cant do compound curves and so its always going to be a...

Late to the party as usual :) Importing to the UK now is a no no TBH like everywhere more and more countries are becoming isolationist driven by Gov thats doesnt really want you to buy foreign.

I'm not suggesting to do it but after its been painted would probably be better, this original paint aircraft shows the paint worn off the top of every rivet making them very prominent

    Kotare Spitfire

Rivets were flush forward of the cockpit and mushroom head aft. in 1/32 they would be 0.3mm and pretty much invisible in 1/48 but kit makers put them on for effect. Likewise with panel lines, there wasnt a gap between panels and even a scribed line in 1/32 would be too big but again people...

The fuselage roundel looks to have settled really well. You wouldn't have stood a chance with that with the Tamiya decals. I re applied micro sol 3 times with no effect, trying to get the panel lines to show through.

Sorry i called in at Goodwood airfield today but i only had my phone with me. An unusual spitfire in PR colours but 2 seat MkIX never seen a 2 seat in blue. A giant Airfix Spitfire, looks like the guy had trouble with the roundels. and way off in the distance a Havard/T6 making a lot of...

    Tamiya Spitfire Mk IX (1/32)

I built this for a guy who worked on spitfires briefly for the RAF battle of Britain flight and lives near my brother. I bought it based on reviews on line. It get good write ups but most of these on closer examination are from the time of its launch 20 years ago.. I would say it still holds...
