I did that years ago on a car model that due to weird problems at the final assembly I didn't finish. The paint is still as glossy as it was originally though the clear coat has yellowed with age and the white detail is now a cream color which looks almost better than the original white.

The screw orientation would only work if there were nuts on the inside so that it could be adjusted. If they were threaded into a hole tapped in a solid part the orientation would be however it ended up when tightened down.

A good smooth flat black then a good clear gloss coat.
