I usually put on a movie and sit back with several files, my nippers, and a VERY sharp X-acto chisel blade and work the links over while watching the movie(s).

I have to go through and straighten up mine periodically as it gets where I can't find anything and the workspace becomes the size of an index card. Kind of hard to work on a 1/16th scale half track on a space the size of an index card.

Actually they were (I believe) hand painted on for the most part, so these look just fine for the most part.
