    Building a 1/35 Sd.Kfz. 7 mittlerer Zugkraftwagen 8 ton

I found his site quite early on when I got back into the hobby and it was an invaluable source of info when it came to kit reviews, sorting out build fixes, etc. It was running for quite a while without any real updated content and I was continually finding myself referring back to it. Sad now...

    Building a 1/35 Sd.Kfz. 7 mittlerer Zugkraftwagen 8 ton

Step 9 has you build up the steering box, shaft, and steering wheel. The instructions have you attach the wheel to the shaft and then the shaft to the chassis. If you like to keep assemblies apart to aid airbrushing I would NOT recommend attaching it to the chassis just yet. You are still to add...

    Building a 1/35 Sd.Kfz. 7 mittlerer Zugkraftwagen 8 ton

:victory: early days still! This aint a bad kit but only if you have learned from its failings. I wish Tamiya would have a bash at another one. It would cut down on all the faffing about. But where's the fun in that:bigrin:

    Building a 1/35 Sd.Kfz. 7 mittlerer Zugkraftwagen 8 ton

Lets build! Following the instructions, we commence in step 1 with the gearbox. Once built up this is instructed to be fitted between the chassis rails. It does not actually provide any real structural rigidity as it will just dangle between just one small contact point on each chassis rail. To...

    Building a 1/35 Sd.Kfz. 7 mittlerer Zugkraftwagen 8 ton

The Trumpeter wheels are plastic but the tyres are fully DS. I didnt paint over the rubber on my original fifteen year old build, I just weathered them with pigments and it still wears them without melting any styrene. They they do look to be of better quality compared to the melting qualities...

    Hello from a small island

Great reference books. I get a buzz out of knowing the vehicle's history and ultimately what the kit is supposed to look like, even if I don't end up re-working every single ommision or accuracy issue. ;)

    Building a 1/35 Sd.Kfz. 7 mittlerer Zugkraftwagen 8 ton

For the Trumpeter kit I'm going to copy the factory fresh example in plain Dunky yellow. It requires some smaller 'late' type headlights, a resin set of front wheels, and a few other visual improvements

Yup, but nothing that Jeff B's little outfit can't accomodate :)

    Hello from a small island

Very rural, but a tourist destination in summer. The island has a large ferry port to Dublin, Ireland just accross the Irish sea. Its also home to the worlds first modern (1826) large scale suspension bridge - the only way on and off the island until very recently! RAF Valley (fast jet training...

    Building a 1/35 Sd.Kfz. 7 mittlerer Zugkraftwagen 8 ton

For some unkown reason I have always been a sucker for WWII halftracks and soft skins, with Axis vehicles being a particular favourite. Over the last few years I have built a fair few Sd.Kfz.7 1/35 kits of which 99% of them come from just two Chinese manufacturers. Tamiya do offer one, but it's...

My last build - Rare armoured WWII axis halftrack

Thanks Saúl Yes, these are the only three period images I ever found on the tinterweb, and yes, the last pic is miss-labeled as a FAMO! Its a shame none are taken at the same angle but there are some interesting differences we can observe. Two rear door designs. Was the two door design to be...

My last build - Rare armoured WWII axis halftrack

Sd.Kfz.8 DB10 Gepanzerte 12T This 1/35 Trumpeter kit represents the one and only survivor (to date) of a very rare late war axis armoured prime mover. I started this in 2012 and like many of my projects it got shelved. After developing a nasty and unhealthy allergy to modelling cements in 2024...

    Hello from a small island

Hi folks, My name is Los and my home is on a small island in the UK. Love building 1/35 AFV's although glue sniffing is off the table for now (long story) So now I really do have zero excuses in getting fifteen years worth of shelf queens over the finishing line:lol:
