    Tamiya 1/48 P-47D-5

I'm going to do this one as Bud Mahurin's airplane, the second option in the kit. I read his bio not long ago. A very nice kit. I used the decal for the instrument panel and it could have settled down better but looks OK since you cant see it very well. All else is going swimmingly. The...

The museum looks very interesting, thanks for the pictures. The PT-19 is a BT-13, I think.

    Aircraft Photo base

Paddy, you are hampered by knowing too much about photography! I have been thinking about setting up a computer driven 60 inch TV for a backdrop that I can put photos on. The brightness could be varied and then the base has to roll off at the back or blend in somehow. An interesting project...

    Czech Model 1/48 Northrop XP-56

Gary, except for the landing gear being so weak it's a pretty easy build. Good to hear from you!

Beauty & the beast. Irving & Beau.

The Irving work is really nice, Gary. Don't worry about the Beaufighter cockpit, crew or not you can't see much of it.

Panel line scriber and riveter, what do y'all recommend?

I have had the Bare Metal scriber for a long time and it is pretty good. If you can afford them, Tamiya makes a range of scribing tools in different widths that are very good and cost as much as a kit. I have two of them. They fit in a pin vise and I like them very much.

Thanks, everyone. Going to do a Tamiya P-47 next. Don't think it will have "wobbly wheels!"

    Czech Model 1/48 Northrop XP-56

Going to stop where I am, though I would have liked to have worked on the panel lines a bit more. The fragility of the landing gear made that too difficult for me and my shaky hands. Apparently the maker really wanted a scale size landing gear and that resulted in very weak struts, made worse...

    Tamiya P38J

"But on the other hand, you could always use the 'ol carpenter's rule, "If it don't fit, beat it in with a hammer"😮" Hmm, we used to say bash to fit and paint to match in the airplane shop.
