    Possibly my new obsession...

The man that brush hogged our 5 arces of pasture has gotten to old to do it. He did it free. It was a deal made years ago in exchange for keeping his horses on our land. We decided to do it ourselves. Just purchased this 1951 Ford 8n and dug out a 5' Brush hog thats been sitting in the woods for...

I was a little shocked myself.

Ok, the 1/16 Das Werks Panzer III J arrived from Andy's Hobby Headquarters. Just a size comparison between the hull of it and the 1/16 Panzer I.

Yeah, the mats were expensive. They are in the sewing section of Hobby Lobby too, the one I got was back in the art/model area.

We went to the local Jo-Ann's here, in Chattanooga, as soon as the news about them closing aired. The women in there looked like they would have no problem killing each other for the deal!

Hobby Lobby had their 24"x 18" cutting mats for $10.99. This is the first build on it. I'll try not to use this one as an airbrushing pad. Actually, I'm guessing this tank doesn't have a much bigger footprint than a 1/35 big cat, like a Tiger or Panther. Just the parts are alot bigger.

Ok, the kit gives you a choice of blackout cover or no blackout cover on the main light. I like the cover on, but so far, no photos I've seen show it with the cover?

After locking myself in the workroom...4 hrs later the tracks are together.

I hear ya. It will live on a base under glass anyway. Even though the kit's suspension is designed to work it's all a bit loose for my liking. I'd rather have it tight with straight looking wheels.

Next up is the tracks. Takom out did themselves with these. The links are flawless, crisp with no flash. Plus they are put together like the real ones were. I watched a video of an Australian tank museum trying to beat the 80+ yr old rusted pins out of the links of a Panzer I they were restoring 😜

After a couple of days work I have the suspension together. It works pretty well. However I believe I'll glue it up stiff since this is a static model.

Ok, looking at Saul's great pics of the suspension I noticed the kit didn't have any nuts on the long bolts holding the leafspring packs. Again I used my super sculpey nut & bolt casting to add them.

I really like the smaller tracked vehicles. Idk, the M3 & M5 Stuart both had a similar arrangement as well, right?

Nice detail pics! I'll use them to check the kit's stuff. So far it looks pretty good. Screenshot of the homepage and article mentioning the Idler issue. It does say it caused steering problems.

The ends of the leafspring packs didn't have the molded individual detail so I added a hit of them. I also cut off the molded nut & bolts going through the packs and replaced them with my Super Sculpey cast ones. The molded bolts looked like just little lumps after sanding the parting lines of...

Building the road wheels, return rollers, Idler wheels and the suspension. On the real one the spoked wheels were cast aluminum. Also, I read because the Idler was on the ground it caused constant problems. I don't know what problems as the article didn't elaborate.

Going all in on 1/16 scale Armor.

Excellent. It was between the Das Werk Panzer III or the SDKfz 250. I chose the Panzer this time, but will be doing the 250 at some point. Staying away from the Trumpeter stuff. We don't live on that side of the tracks! Just getting into the Panzer I build with the road wheels and I can...
