    Help on Hairspray weathering

As my good friend Andy would say, the blokes on the back are from Tristar. They're the German Panzer Grenadiers Vol. 1 and Vol. 2. The crew is a combination of Tank and Verlinden. The chap next to the commander is from Verlinden and the rest are from Tank. Randy

    Help on Hairspray weathering

Rigger, Here's a few pics showing how mine came out. I was pleased with the results. However, I don't have a final pic, which shows that I lost a great deal of the whitewash during the final weathering process, but I wanted to depict a scene showing that the vehicle had already gone through a...

    Help on Hairspray weathering

Yep, I think you let the white paint dry too long. When I tried it, I washed the paint off almost immediately. I'm sorry, but I don't know how to correct it, other than re-painting and trying it, again.

    My other WIP

Looks awesome, Pup! I see a TnT convention in your future, although there may not be enough naughty corners. I got lucky this year. Karen turned her attention to the backyard and she did it all by herself while I was at work. She had a semi-load of dirt delivered that created a mound in the...

    First Division Museum at Cantigny

Hey, gang I finally got a little vacation time and drove about an hour outside of Chicago to visit the 1st Division Museum at Cantigny. I'd visted the museum about 25 years ago, and, wow, has it been updgraded! The following photos were taken at what they call "Tank Park," which is on the...

    Music to build models to

Hey, gang I love the old Bowie stuff,! especially the Ziggy Stardust album (yes, I still refer to them as albums). I usually throw in some Bob Dylan, anything from the beginning to now, I have them all. Other times, it's Bob Marley's Legends' collection or the Marshall Tucker collection...

    Painting figures in acrylics?

Hey, Andy I've never liked any combination of any acrylics for flesh tones. What works best for you? Peace and Love, Randy

    Painting figures in acrylics?

Yes, I agree, acrylic's work just fine for figures. I decided to try Vallejo on the figures for my "Charlie Don't Surf" build and I'm very pleased with the product. I took a stab at using artists' oils once and found it a bit too challenging and, yes,the drying time drove me absolutely crazy...

Welcome to the build, James! Sounds like you could have a platoon of figures completed by build's end. Peace and Love, Randy

How do you Painting tank tools?

Hey, Rigger I've always given them a basecoat of flat black, followed by a drybushing of metal. I've never tried to give them a rusty appearance because, depending upon the climate, it would take forever and a day for them to rust. Not to mention, they're probably being continually used for...

The Australian SAS salutes Platoon Update 10/25/10

Re: The Australian SAS salutes Platoon Sandbagging Hey, gang I approved an extended leave for the Brav0-6 figures while I begin to tackle Academy's M113A1. Step one was to sandbag the floor using Legend's M113 Accessory Set. I must say, it's packed full of goodies. The packaging says it can be...

    LVTP -5 W I P

Foul! Okay, that's it! You and Terry aren't playing fair. I'm not even gonna assemble the engine to my APC. The entire engine compartment is gonna be buttoned up and I don't care if I know it's unfinished or not. Why, I might even close every hatch there is! You guy's rock! Peace and Love, Randy

    Terry's M113 "LETS MAKE TRACKS"

Re:Terry's M113 Sweet, Terry You continue to out-do yourself. It's a real pleasure to watch your build progress. I began to build Academy's APC yesterday and was pleased to find out that the Bravo-6 driver fits perfectly behind the controls, just chop the handles off and angle them to fit into...

A PZ IV BEING DONE AT SOUTH POLE...

Hey, lupanzer Awesome work for any climate! I'll have to tell my cousin to check out your build. He retired from the U.S. Navy as a captain about five years ago. For most of his career, he spent six months "on the ice" (because once he got there, the weather often wouldn't allow him to leave)...

The Australian SAS salutes Platoon Update 10/25/10

Re:The Australian SAS salutes Platoon 8/25/10 Hey, gang Well, it's been over a month since my last update, but I'm on vacation this week and I've made a little progress. The final two Bravo-6 figures and the two Evolution Miniatures' figures are now wearing their base coats. I still have a...

    Terry's M113 "LETS MAKE TRACKS"

Re:Terry's M113 Hey, Terry Wow! I'm afraid to even take my ACAV out of the box after tracking your project. The chair's awesome and the detail is spectacular. However, I'm on vacation this week and I've nearly finished the figures. I hope to be posting an update myself real soon. Peace and...
