------------------------------------
The main focus of these new figures is to obtain the best quality for the modeller, returning the optimum for the money!
Packaging:
The figure comes packed in a hard plastic box to ensure that no part is damaged! Inside the box you find a length of lead wire and a bag with all parts for the figure!
/images/stories/img_pictures/kreighshoer_11/maim_reviews_1048/bag_2_20101024_1098766671.jpg
Breakdown/Details:
The figure breakdown is as following: The torso with molded on bags, the separate head, the two arms in white resin and the weapons in tin!
/images/stories/img_pictures/kreighshoer_11/maim_reviews_1048/bodyandhead_3_20101024_1022237242.jpg
/images/stories/img_pictures/kreighshoer_11/maim_reviews_1048/arms_4_20101024_1506630451.jpg
/images/stories/img_pictures/kreighshoer_11/maim_reviews_1048/weapons_5_20101024_1496368775.jpg
Materials:
The torso and head are casted in regular, non smelling resin of regular hardness and the details are crisp and one can notice the love and devotion the sculptor laid into the work! The eyeshades, the SK4 flak jacket and the molded on pouches are wonderfully detailed
The white resin for the arms was used because of quality reasons! Mr Brechmann from „Der Sockelshop“ explained to me that they decided to use the highest quality resin for delicate parts like the arms to ensure that no finger breaks away when the arms are removed from the carrier! Unfortunately this high quality resin is available in white only at the moment but Mr Brechmann assured me that they are working on a different color solution without stepping back from the high quality pretension! Since figures are primed before painting anyways, this is a clear point on the pro side!
Same goes for the G36 and the P8 in it's holster! Both weapons are done in tin and beautifully detailed! The reason for using tin is that all too often the modeller witnesses broken away or bent barrels! While rectifying a resin barrel is a bit time consuming, the barrel can be bent back to original shape very easily with tin! Another plus for those figures!
Assembly:
Assembly goes straight forward without any problems! On my sample i had to use a little bit of putty to fill the parts where the arms are attached to the torso but this is usual work with most figures! The head fits snugly in the opening and withing shortest time the basic construction of the figure is done!
/images/stories/img_pictures/kreighshoer_11/maim_reviews_1048/torsoandarms_6_20101024_1940844657.jpg
/images/stories/img_pictures/kreighshoer_11/maim_reviews_1048/torsoarmsandhead_7_20101024_1855166298.jpg
The G36 slips easily into the right hand and can be secured with ca glue, to fit the P8 tight to the leg i carved away a little bit from the leg, dryfitted and glued in place!
/images/stories/img_pictures/kreighshoer_11/maim_reviews_1048/figuredone_1_20101024_1386851742.jpg
The only tricky part of the figure is the sling for the G36! You have to measure the length of the lead foil to be cut away, have a steel ruler handy to ensure a straight cut and then you have to carefully attach the sling to one side of the G36! I found it best to glue the sling to the front part of the rifle, then wrap it around the neck and secure it with a drop of ca glue to be able to straighten it then glue the other end of the string to the rear end of the rifle!
/images/stories/img_pictures/kreighshoer_11/maim_reviews_1048/figuredone2_2_20101024_1216142169.jpg
All in all after 15 minutes the figure was done and i could prime it!
/images/stories/img_pictures/kreighshoer_11/maim_reviews_1048/primed1_3_20101024_1947420193.jpg
/images/stories/img_pictures/kreighshoer_11/maim_reviews_1048/primed2_4_20101024_1232641234.jpg

/images/stories/img_pictures/kreighshoer_11/maim_reviews_1048/primed4_6_20101024_1781563891.jpg
Conclusion:
This is a wonderful and highly detailed figure with the highlights being the tin weapons and the fact that the materials selected were chosen to ensure maximum quality for the customer! Having had a lot of different figures in my hands i have never witnessed a similar devotion to quality and details before! With a retail price of 13,95 € the modeller gets the maximum for the money!
Out of the reasons of quality, ease of assembly and attention to details this figure gets a Very Highly Recommended from me!
MaiM is off to a very good start and this first figure promises more beautiful lovely figure releases in future and it should be easy to find a lot of fans around the modelling world and figure painters!
