COL Hal Moore Bust

JamesOLeary

Master at Arms
A couple of years ago I bought a bust depicting COL Hal Moore when he was a Brigade Commander in the 1st Cavalry Division in Viatnam shortly after he led his battalion during the Battle at LZ X-Ray in the Ia Drang Valley in Vietnam. It was made by Dolman Miniatures and the sculptor did a really good job creating a likeness based on these photos.

I was originally going to add patches to the bust until I found those photos showing him wearing a shirt without patches in the same pose as the bust.

This is my rendition of the bust. First I used AK Interactive QuickGen paints mixed with Ultra Matte Varnish to lay a baseline for the shadows and highlights. I then used various acrylics to paint the bust. I think he turned out nicely.
