My Son's US State Quarters (25 cent coin) Project

Sharkmouth

Information Overload
Staff member
Well, My boy has gotten real close to completing his US map with one quarter for each state but is missing a few. Several trips to the bank exchanging dollars for rolls of quarters have not produced any more finds.

The state quarters he is missing are:

Colorado
Florida
Hawaii
Illinois
Indiana
Kansas
Kentucky
Maine
Michigan
Oklahoma
Oregon
South Carolina
Washington
West Virginia

I will be glad to reimburse the coin along with shipping.

Thanks,

I collected the quarter too. I will look and see what I have.

Terry :hmmm

When my son reads this (he's only seven) you will have made an instant friend.
;)

Regards,

I know i have atleast 2 and i think one is florida "the sunshine state" i can dig down in the boxes to see if i can find them

found them :) it was south Carolina and New York just let me know if you want them, maybe to far to send

Hi Mats,

We have New York as it is our home state but not South Carolina. where are you located?

Regards,

I got a Washington in my pocket and a bucket load of quarters at home. sure I can find anything else you need.

I live in belgium, had these left since i lived in florida a couple of years ago

A big public thank you to all who are responding, in case my son doesn't articulate it.

My son has been 'letting me know' that his project to 'teach his class' (show and tell) is not ready and school ends soon. So, I am running out of time and asked publicly.
;)

Regards,

Now he can tell them about national and international cooperation.

Saul, does the mint mark matter?

At first glance I have doubles of these:

Colorado
Hawaii
Kansas
Oklahoma
Oregon
West Virginia

I'll check to see what else I might have later. PM me your addy, I know I had it before but I've lost it.

No need on reimbursing me...

My son, being 7, doesn't even know the mint mark although I tried explaining it to him. I guess that makes it easier!

PM inbound.

Regards & Thanks,

Mint mark?

There are three mints in the US that strike coins, Philadelphia, Denver and San Fransisco. (there used to be more, Carson City and New Orleans for example) The third mint (SF) strikes proof coins (highly reflective collectors coins) while the first two mints (P & D) strike business (circulated) coins.

You will see a small letter somewhere on the coin for the mint that struck it, (on the quarter it will be under "in God we trust" on the obverse) although in the old days, Philadelphia didn't place a mark on their coins, but they do now.

ok, i see one has a P and the other a D, they are from 2000 and 2001 and i left florida in early 2002 so they are in good shape :)
have one quarter from 1965 to but that one you see that it has been used alot.

...and 1965 was the first year the quarter went to a clad composition, 1964 and prior were made from silver.

:D
