My entry is going to be the classic F-106A by Monogram. The initial dry fit seems ok. Gary S. XLV MMXXIV

I built one years ago. If I remember right I liked the kit and it was bigger than I thought it was going to be.

In order to maximize my airbrush time to touch up the Su-27, I decided to start the F-106 and paint parts on it. First the fuselage was glued together. Fit was pretty good. There's has a lot of detail in the weapons bay that I wanted to put together before painting it. Also the gear door actuators hang out waiting to get broken off, so I installed the inner gear doors too. The cockpit interior needs paint too. Gary S. XLV MMXXIV

I applaud your choice! The Delta Dart is a pretty sexy jet for an Air Force job! :vgood:
Didja choose your markings yet?

That's an oldie but a goodie,I remember that was in one of the first modeling mags I read in the 80's
Coming along nicely

Thanks!! The cockpit is a real gem. No need for a detail set. The engine is painted and installed along with the nose gear and well. the weapons bay was painted and dry brushed. Managed to break a piece off and found it soon after. The fuselage fit is going to need convincing to fit. Gary S. XLV

At rest the elevons droop on the F-106. I'm pretty sure Monogram molded them like that, but I'm too lazy to go look in a kit to be positive.

Yes, they are molded that way. Yesterday the fuselage was glued together after a lot of dry fitting. In the first 2 pictures with the red marks is where trim was needed, plus a little of the corner where on the upper fuselage meets the leading edge of the wing. After gluing a lot of convincing tape was applied. this morning a more regluing and heavy duty convincing was needed. Gary S. XLVMMXX

under pressure - looking down on me ... well this old Queen song pops up in my weird brain when looking at this

Shaping up nicely. I remember seeing one fly at an airshow at Grand Forks, first time I experienced what an afterburner would do. He pointed his tail at the crowd and it felt like it would knock the wind out of your lungs. They were brutes.

You must have been just a kid. I wonder when he hit the after burner if he could see the fuel gauge empty? Gary S. XLV. MMXIV
