Wing warp addressed
I used boiling water straight out of the kettle and immersed the whole wing pieces in one at a time for about 30 sec, then used metal tongs to retrieve, placed onto the kitchen worktop and held them down until they cooled.

This was round one - they were worst than this!

Round two!

I think that is enough don't want to create other probs from pushing it too much.

decals look good

I have been giving a lot of thought whether to give it tail down stance or not, I have decided to add crew members and also add two prop blurs and leaving the stance as is.

This will also give it another view of engines running and in ''take off'' stance.

Further strengthened the wings in case the added weight does some weird things

and some early detailing

seeing as the kit doesn't supply the 30mm cannon I thought I'd try two sizes of brass tube, and came up with this.

With the two parts of the wing glued, there are two wing fit tabs.
Shaving some off he bottom tab gives a slight lift to further straighten the wing to fuse, also gets rid of a bit more of the wing to fuse gap.

got the pit area to here,

two figures that fitted in the seats will do nicely!

and back to dry fitting and weight balance testing!

ok take your last look!!!!

pit finished

fuse was very tricky to line up with the fitted pit tub, I ended up that night with more Ca glue on the fingers than the model.......

Added a few bits to the interior, but with the limited view you can't see much.

Ok got the balance right now, as long as the tail isn't tapped! but minimal weight is enough.

(that starb weight will be close up against the rad flaps so a bit more balance forward)

and tried one of the prop blurs

and a lil pic of the engine fronts

Re: 1/48 Pro Modeller Ta 154

Is there a problem with my PB account? does anyone else have troubles viewing my photos here?

please let me know.

Phil, Photobucket is one of the web sites most business block their employees from viewing. The best thing to do is to use the Modelers' Alliance Gallery as the photo host and you can post anywhere. Since the Gallery is not recognized by the large black-lists used by companies, the images can be viewed by anyone (including those who should be working and not surfing - this is you Moonpuppy! )

Regards,

Very very cool. I remember building this one when it first came out. Those blurred props look very interesting. I've seen them for sale but never actually used. What do you think of them? Are they fairly rigid so that they dont distort if accidentally touched? Looking forward to the paint (y) (y) (y) (y)

ok this explains it !!!!!

James I quite like the prop blur product, to me it gives another view.

They are fairly rigid, but you do have to be careful, that one I used has the three props on an ''o'' so the thinish connecting brass piece will be the weak point on that one.

They also come in separated props, so you can attach them closer to the prop hub if needed, I measure the prop blade and adjust the length as required.

one I did earlier with them

Re: 1/48 Pro Modeller Ta 154

After some thinking I decided not to freehand the blotch camo

Sprayed the grey/violet then placed blu tac blotches, then primed it in white again

blu tac off after spraying the RLM 76
DSC_3444pr.jpg

then tried to spray the prop blurs so the tips are lighter, the photos don't show this well

I had fun with the red walkway lines - Not!

overall for the age of the decals they went on ok, a few smaller ones split when positioning.

Lots of balance checking on this one,it's a fine edge! gear, props nosecone just held with small blutac pieces, gently blowing on the tail causes it to squat!

Tyres may need to be glued to the axles, they rotate but are a bit crooked.

Re: 1/48 Pro Modeller Ta 154

as you all can see from this previous pic it sits nice...
DSC_3572x1.jpg

but I didn't take into account the added weight of the blu tac pit and gear well masks!! as soon as I flatcoated
I pulled the blu tac out bam! tail squat! :bang head

So more weight to add but the engines are glued on tight!

Out with the big guns, pure lead. this I packed into the nosecone and attached , better but still not right.
Adding the crew, engine face an cowling ring, exhausts, Almost got it, the 30mm brass cannons are to far forward I know - but even this helped out - this kit is mad! even packed as much lead into the radar operators box!! and wonder of wonders - it JUST!! sits level!!!

DSC_3577l.jpg

Bonus - more things forward to be fitted yet!!

Swhing! I like it, great camo job. Aren't they suppose to sit right there on balance? Don't want it nose heavy or they never would get off the ground. :dance

Re: 1/48 Pro Modeller Ta 154

Thanks guys, MP - it already feels like half a brick when you pick it up!!! :D

Terry I want to dirty it just a little, I'm using Brett Green's fantastic build as a guide,so something like this

Quote: "weathering was applied, but not too much as these Moskitos seemed to be kept in fairly clean condition. A thin mix of Flat Black and Red Brown was sprayed along control surface hinges and major panel lines. The same mix was used as gun dust around the fuselage troughs, and exhaust stains on the engine nacelles. Panel lines were also treated to a thin wash of acrylic semi-gloss black paint."

Hopefully I can do it justice and not screw it up!

Re: 1/48 Pro Modeller Ta 154
