Oh yeah these planes are big for real.
 
They are if you compare them to other single engine birds like Spitfires, Me 109's P-51's and FW 's .

A good comparison might be the warthog as opposed to the f-16's.

Built the Kinetic P-47D last year...wonder how it compares. I'll have to measure when I'm back home.
