    The Mainly28s Hetzer

Sooo, back at the work-station after a period fraught with real-life issues. I'm currently devoting most of my time to additional education (Windows Azure) and looking for new employers as I found my position at the old one untenable- why hire an expert if you're not going to heed his advice...

    Academy/Hobbycraft Bf 109G-6 FINISHED

Beautiful! The B/W pics look especially atmospheric.

    Fw 200 Condor

Beautiful finish on this one! One of my favourite aircraft ever, and I'm just sorry that it is so big, or I would have bought and built one long ago.

    STUG 3 C/D - EASTERN FRONT(Frankenstein build)

It looks suitably atmospheric to me.

    The Mainly28s Hetzer

It's a wargaming scale, not a modelling scale, although Italeri are now in the process of bringing out a series of vehicles in 1:56th in conjunction with Warlord. There are quite a few companies producing kits in this scale now: Company B, JTFM/Die Waffenkammer, Warlord, Blitzkrieg Miniatures...

    The Mainly28s Hetzer

Oooookay, so a little background first. Bolt Action Miniatures (BAM), as they were then knownwas a small wargames company run by two enthusiasts, providing 28mm WW2 wargames figures. BAM supported a number of master-makers, and pushed 1:56th scale as the correct scale for 28mm miniatures (one of...

    GERMAN STEEL START UP POLL

Hmmm- looking through my (huge) collection of unbuilt kits, I found that I have an unbuilt Hetzer. Now, I think I should do this one, as it was the last master I made before my stroke, and I've never actually painted one of them before! A small taster- I'll put more pics in the thread as...

    GERMAN STEEL START UP POLL

Hmmmmmm... would a 1:56th resin Panther be acceptable? Done to a wargames standard? It's a multi-part kit (hull, running gear in two parts, turret, gun and a few other bits and pieces), or is that not model-y enough?

    1/48 Scale Bf-109G-6

Very nice indeed! The dark undersurfaces make this really different. I see that "alternative" colours are pretty much in vogue now.

    Information request- Colour Schemes

Ooookay, now that I've completed my first build on here, could I request some help from the collective brains here? My collection of aviation-related reference material is still pretty limited, so I'm hoping I can get some ideas here. I have a part-built '110 G (second-hand from Fleabay...

    The Mainly28s Messerschmitt Bf 109 G-10

Straight from the box (you get two options)- Messerschmitt Bf 109 G-10 05- JG1- W9+I, Anklam, November 1944 Messerschmitt Bf 109 G-10 05- JG27- B11+-, Schleswig-Holstein, March 1945 Loads of stencils and stuff, but no swastikas.

Wings Over The Reich Completion Thread

Well, here's my '109. Not as good as the others on this thread, but, as I said elsewhere, I'm happy with her as a new start.

    The Mainly28s Messerschmitt Bf 109 G-10

I'm calling this one done... All in all it's been a pretty nice experience. Many moons ago, before I moved countries, and before I had my mini-stroke, I built kits in 1:32nd, and was very happy with them. I've downscaled to 1:48th for space reasons, and it's still strange to see the quality of...

    The Mainly28s Messerschmitt Bf 109 G-10

Yup- totally by hand. I think the paint deserves the credit, though. It applies easily and smoothly. I've spent part of today doing some pin-washes and overall filter over the RLM76, and will probably be able to complete the fine detail touch-ups tomorrow. No more pics until then! All in all...

    The Mainly28s Messerschmitt Bf 109 G-10

Well, I'm pleased (sort of) with my progress. Bearing in mind that my eye-hand co-ordination is not what it used to be, and that really fine painting is something I need to re-train my hand in, I'm kind of satisfied, especially considering that it's my first aeroplane in more years than I care...

    The Mainly28s Messerschmitt Bf 109 G-10

Errr... distilled water? the ones I got were already pretty liquid, so very little added water. And thank you! As I mentioned elsewhere, it's my first in many a year, so I'm quite pleased with progress so far.

    The Mainly28s Messerschmitt Bf 109 G-10

Well, I managed to get the 1st coat of anthracite on the spinner and prop, and the first coat of RLM76 on the rest of the plane. The drop tank hasn't had anything yet, which explains the shine. I also still need to do the canopy framing. As I've never worked with Lifecolor before, it's a...

    The Mainly28s Messerschmitt Bf 109 G-10

Well, I've made a little progress in spite of being somewhat disheartened by circumstances in real life. I've completed assembly of the fuselage, wings and tail section. The prop, spinner, canopy and intake still need to be tidied up and added. I'm still wondering if I should attach the drop...
