When I first posted about Drill Bit City a long time ago, the guys at Drill Bit City had offered to sell exactly the bits you want (mix and match your own).
Be careful with the bits as they are fragile. This is from a post on January of 2010:
"I already broke TWO drill bits!
The first, I drilled deep and tried it pull it out without reversing when I heard a snap.
The bit tip stayed inside.
The second, I was much more careful until I let go of the bit and it snapped under its own weight.

This is what I bought and why:
I need the following:
#96 2 pieces (these are good for 1/35th scale modern rifles and 1/48th scale 30 Cal MG)
#89 3 pieces (these are good for 1/32 and 1/35th 30 Cal machine guns)
#86 3 pieces (these are good for 1/48th scale 50 Cal HMGs)
#78 2 pieces (these are good for 1/35th scale 14.5mm Modern Russian Heavy Machine Guns & 1/48th scale 20mm cannon)

DBC bits are really sharp and even more fragile. Must be made in Italy. :laugh: I've had better luck using them in the Dremel, they don't seem to break as easily that way. :idonno
The other day, I grabbed the wrong bit (thought I had a steel bit), chucked it in the Dremel and proceeded to drill through my part, into my finger and then the bit broke off in my part! D'oh! Much swearing involved. :frantic

What size bit would you use for drilling out the barrel on a M134 minigun on a helicopter?

That would be #89. However, for the price of the drill bits (as you might break off more than one during the process, why not consider RB Models Minigun barrels? It is what I bought to upgrade the fantastic M-134D kits from Live Resin.

No pictures as one was back dated for my Loach and the other for a gun truck. I bought more of the barrels for another Live resin M-134D but I haven't built it as the subject isn't ready. At the moment, I have been 'playing' with my MiG-23BN.
