Hi all,
This COULD have been my entry for the cold steel campaign, but it was finished last year so its out of competition.
Therefore I put it in this section.
The background:
It is on the eve of Uranus (the big Soviet offensive to isolate the German 6th Army in stalingrad).
A katyusha crew took residence of a farmes hut and shares some Wodka with passing tank troops on their way to the
frontline.
Russian soldiers were far more physical amongst eachother then western soldiers were, including hugging and
kissing.
And more vivid, i tried to express that.
The snow was not just snow. I studied the weather in those days.
It was foggy for days then, wich already indicates a collision of cold/warm weather fronts.
Yes there was snow, but not very much, maybe 1-2 inches. And during daytime it was around zero, so if you stepped
on it it would almost melt and become transparent. You know what I mean.
Tried to express that too.
The Kv-1 represents an battle weary veteran, while the T-34 and Katyusha are almost factory-new.
The would mostly be wet by the fog/melting snow.
Technical:
Everything is ootb, (Italeri, Zvezda an Trumpeter) and hand-painted (got my 1st airbrush this year)
The hut interior is almost completely scratch.
The figures could have done better, but I still think express reasonable good what I wanted.
Although Im not gonna do anything anymore on this, still all comments are welcome for future projects !
Tanx for looking !
