Re: Photo Review of Xutong's 48th scale Tu-2T

I'm slowly working on a detailed in box review including some test fitting of major parts, if someone doesn't beat me to it! :hmmm I'm mostly impressed with the kit so far although the accuracy trolls have already found some glitches. Please note that from the box the kit does not really represent a WWII aircraft, the 'T' version didn't enter service until March of 1945 and by that time the Germans had little in the way that needed to be torpedoed. The decals provide markings for post war aircraft only. Since there are marked places inside the wings for rocket rails and all the torpedo mounting parts require holes to be drilled out it's a safe bet that earlier variant will eventually be released. This I think is their first aircraft model and the fact that it is numbered 003, 001 and 002 may be earlier variants.

Thanks Gary, if someone beats you to the punch we would still want you views.

Those glitches weren't outline with little red lines on top of old low resolution photos were they?

Saul,
What is your first impression after box open? Is the quality of model is close to last products from Trumpeter or Hobby Boss or it's look like Classics Airframes, Special Hobby or MPM...?

Re: Photo Review of Xutong's 48th scale Tu-2T

I can't speak for Saul but it feels a lot like a Trumpeter kit to me, at least it's not covered with rivets !

Re: Photo Review of Xutong's 48th scale Tu-2T

Merit International has let me know that they are now importing the kits into the US!

Hubert, my first impressions were Trumpeter in the quality of plastic and surface finish, however, it is very nice but I have not tested the fit of major parts.

When someone over at Merit showed their boss that I bought you the kit, they sent me one to review so I can answer that and more later.

Gary, would you be allowed to post your reviews here? A second opinion is always welcomed.

Regards,

This is where I was planning on posting it, I have been away from home since Thursday morning and won't be back till Monday, hopefully I can get it finished up and uploaded to the review page. I'm not going to include sprue shots except to illustrate specific things. I can't improve on Saul's shots so they can either be added to my review or a link to them added if that works for everyone.

Gary, as long as my copyright notice isn't removed, you have my permission to use my photographs anywhere you wish. I do this to help modelers, and your review is there to do the same.
