As I said in a build thread, the western half of North Carolina is currently under a state of emergency. Several very large wildfires are burning, causing imminent danger to people, wildlife and property across the area. A cold front moving through later today is supposed to bring high winds with it, which will make the fight more difficult. We haven't had measurable rain for more than a month, and were experiencing drought conditions most of the year. Here's a photo slide show.

The areas are know for a couple motion pictures, Dirty Dancing was filmed in the Lake Lure area and The Hunger Games was shot just north of the South Mountains fire.
Please take a minute to remember the courageous folks fighting the blazes, the people affected by the fires and thousands who do not have clean air to breathe during this event. Prayers for rain are heartily appreciated as well.
