I think they built about 25 of these, 20 Mk IX and a few prototype based on the MKVIII
They were all post war and i think the Irish ones were in the 1950's
Of course its become a really popular configuration these days in the restoration world so the Mrs doesnt moan because she cant come along too...that and the pleasure fights. :)
Quite a complicated conversion because they moved the front cockpit forward about a 1ft and put a smaller fuel tank in, adding bigger tanks in the wings

My local airfield has a couple that do flights all through the summer, both MkIX's
